Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a program certified by ABET
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in buildings related electrical design
  • Experience with construction support services for building projects
  • Ability to serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and prepare/review sealed design documents, where required
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design for buildings, infrastructure, and/or mission-critical facilities
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to be licensed in Florida within 6 months of hire date
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to hold and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance
  • Travel: Minimal, as required

Responsibilities
  • Research, design, and evaluate electrical systems and components for building, industrial, infrastructure, and mission-critical projects
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance on power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and IT systems
  • Collaborate with project teams, government clients, and contractors to develop and execute facility designs
  • Perform quality control reviews and ensure quality assurance across all project phases
  • Manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively to team success
  • Design electrical systems and components, including low- to high-voltage power distribution, substations, standby and backup generation, interior/exterior lighting, access control, security, and fire alarm systems
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and analyses, including load studies, short circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash evaluations
  • Develop lighting designs, including photometric analysis for interior, exterior, and specialized applications (e.g., airfield or mission-critical environments)
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and proposals that are complete, biddable, and constructable, including supporting documentation (e.g., plans, schematics, load calculations), while ensuring alignment with project scope, budget,  schedule, and delivery timelines
  • Review cost estimates and technical submittals for completeness, accuracy, and constructability
  • Develop technical reports, studies, and project correspondence
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, UFC, and UFGS requirements
  • Review permitting requirements and engineering standards to support design approval and permitting applications
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and CPM schedules
  • Provide technical input to studies, design assessments, and engineering solutions to meet client and mission needs
  • Conduct site investigations and evaluate existing electrical systems to identify deficiencies, repair needs, and lifecycle requirements
  • Support project delivery by coordinating scope, schedule, and budget with project managers and senior team members
  • Coordinate designs with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure integration, constructability, and mission alignment
  • Maintain continuous communication with facility users, leadership, and stakeholders regarding project schedules, changes, risks, and inspections
  • Perform quality reviews and ensure continuous quality assurance throughout all project phases
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and support overall project execution
  • Lead and/or support project meetings, design reviews, request for proposals, and stakeholder coordination efforts
  • Validate project requirements, goals, and resource needs to ensure successful delivery
  • Provide construction-phase support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field inspections, and design clarifications
  • Support commissioning activities to verify system performance and functionality
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules, with knowledge of standard construction practices
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams to resolve issues and provide updates
  • Desire to take independent initiative and ownership of work, and an eagerness to learn
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or within multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering tools
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of mission requirements
