Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least one certified unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. accredited center in an acute hospital setting with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma experience is required.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory requirements, including sitting, standing, walking, frequent hand and finger use, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, and occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, or reaching above shoulder level.
Responsibilities
  • Provide spiritual care to patients, families, and hospital staff in individual, family, and/or group contexts.
  • Provide follow-up to ensure continuity of patient care, as assigned by the Network Director and Coordinator of Spiritual Care.
  • Demonstrate competency in spiritual assessment, range of treatment, knowledge and growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
  • Access appropriate patient information from the Electronic Medical Record as part of the spiritual assessment, add notes to the Pastoral Spiritual Care flowsheet, and enter clear and consistent progress notes in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Maintain daily statistics and submit a patient care log to the Coordinator of Pastoral Spiritual Care at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the organ donation process and ethical medical decision making, including the Self Determination Act and Pennsylvania Act 169.
  • Attend mandatory Associate Chaplain meetings, meet with the Network Director at prescribed intervals to offer and receive feedback, and complete the annual evaluation within the established time period.
  • Complete yearly compliance training and mandatory learning within prescribed time frames.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the Network or entity and ensure proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate and model the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate Performance Improvement in clinical care and outcomes, customer and service improvement, operational systems and processes, and safety, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility and accountability through effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
