Deutsche Bank shares fell 4.5% after CFO Raja Akram indicated that Investment Bank third-quarter revenues could be flat to slightly lower year over year, depending on activity in the final days of the quarter. This follows a strong Q3 2025 comparison when IB revenues jumped 18% year over year. Fixed Income & Currencies activity was healthy in July before slowing in August, whilst September trends have been mixed. Credit trading remained below year-ago levels, though activity across other businesses stayed steady, with strong deal activity in mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, and debt issuance. Management raised its 2026 net interest income outlook to slightly above the previous guidance of nearly €14 billion. Over the past six months, Deutsche Bank shares gained 23.9%.

Deutsche Bank is targeting more than 13% return on tangible equity by 2028, with CFO Raja Akram citing strong momentum in wealth management and its Corporate Bank. The bank's wealth management revenue rose nearly 8% in the first half, bringing in €60 billion in net new assets. The Corporate Bank is expected to deliver mid-single-digit or better revenue growth, showing a turnaround that began in the second quarter. The bank has reduced higher-risk commercial real estate exposure by roughly 40% to 50%. Deutsche Bank reaffirmed its near-term common equity tier 1 ratio target of 13.5% to 14%, with excess capital distributions planned once the ratio sustainably exceeds 14%. The bank has completed €1.5 billion in distributions this year. Management views the 13% return target as a floor, with potential upside from net interest income, productivity gains and lower structural costs.
