Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant work experience in Business, International Trade, Global Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with U.S. import regulations under 19 CFR, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, and regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • At least three years of experience in customs or international trade.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation and an improvement-oriented approach.
  • Availability to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of an interview.

Responsibilities
  • Execute trade-related activities to maintain United's compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.
  • Participate in and, where appropriate, lead projects or initiatives of varying complexities.
  • Identify procedural improvements to trade-compliance activities and coordinate implementation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with cross-functional projects related to trade-compliance activities, transactions, and obligations.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.K. His Majesty's Revenue and Customs, and the Canada Border Services Agency.
  • Prepare trade-related applications and responses to regulator requests in coordination with Legal.
  • Generate, maintain, and monitor government import/export declarations, certifications, and other government-agency requests.
  • Coordinate with the trade-compliance team and internal stakeholders to understand business objectives and develop import and export authorizations for compliant transfer of technology, technical data, hardware, and services.
  • Conduct reviews and audits of import and export compliance policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential compliance gaps, communicate them to the trade-compliance team, and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Manage and maintain records in accordance with government regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Conduct training and provide operational advice on compliant execution of trade and sanctions regulations.
  • Track status and provide reports and metrics associated with trade-compliance activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with trade-related licenses and exceptions.
  • Knowledge of Automated Commercial Environment, DECCS, SNAP-R, and OCR EASE.
  • Experience applying International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, and U.S. import regulations in high-volume environments.
  • Experience preparing and administering Technical Assistance Agreements and Manufacturing Licensing Agreements.
  • Tariff and export-control classification ability and experience.
  • Audit and investigation knowledge and experience.
  • Global trade-management software development or implementation skills.
  • Licensed Customs Broker qualification.
  • At least five years of experience in customs or international trade.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the aerospace or airline industry.
  • Ability to read, understand, and correctly apply complex regulatory text and legal rulings.

United Airlines sees loyalty revenue surge 13% as Amex cardholders boost premium spending

United Airlines reported strong second-quarter results driven by loyalty programmes, with American Express playing an unexpected role despite not co-branding a card with the carrier. Global commercial air travel hit a record on 23 July with 153,359 flights tracked worldwide. The milestone comes during peak summer holiday season and follows strong growth trends, with 2026 passenger traffic expected to rise 5% over 2025. US carriers are benefiting significantly. Delta Air Lines is up 35% this year, whilst United Airlines Holdings and Southwest Airlines have each gained about 19%, outpacing the S&P 500's 13% rise. All three posted strong second-quarter results in July, beating Wall Street expectations despite higher jet fuel prices. Delta expects full-year income of about $73 billion, up 15% from 2025. United raised its earnings forecast to $9–$11 per share. Southwest reported earnings of $0.94 per share on revenue of $8.72 billion, exceeding analyst estimates. Robust demand continues despite increased fares and capacity constraints from Boeing and Airbus production backlogs.
