About the job

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 7+ years developing embedded software in C/C++ on an RTOS, embedded Linux, or bare metal.
  • Hands-on experience with UDS (ISO 14229), DTC handling, and ISO-TP over CAN.
  • Strong experience with CAN/CAN-FD and Automotive Ethernet, tools such as Vector CANoe or similar, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and integrating compute platforms and sensors in vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience debugging system-level issues on embedded Linux with eBPF-based tools and profilers such as bpftrace, bcc, or perf.
  • Experience building monitoring for devices or fleets, such as with Prometheus and Grafana, including instrumentation or exporters, dashboards, and alert rules, in Python, Go, or C/C++.
  • Experience taking embedded systems from prototype and third-party integration to production.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement fault detection, event and DTC handling, UDS and DoIP services, and watchdog supervision across the MCU and Linux compute platform.
  • Design and own the vehicle health monitoring pipeline, collecting metrics, logs, and fault events from the MCU and Linux SoC and sending them to a central time-series and log store using standard tooling such as Prometheus exporters or OpenTelemetry collectors.
  • Use eBPF and kernel tracing to observe Linux SoC behavior, including scheduling, network, driver and camera pipeline latency, and frame or packet drops.
  • Build dashboards for fleet, vehicle, and board health; define alert rules and thresholds; and route alerts to on-call.
  • Commission the compute, MCU, and sensor stack in vehicles and validate gPTP and PPS timing.
  • Use monitoring data to reproduce and root-cause vehicle issues with reliability and software teams, then turn each issue into an automated regression test and, where useful, a dashboard panel or alert.
  • Contribute to safety analysis, including FMEA and FMEDA, and implement safety mechanisms. Protect diagnostic access with authenticated sessions and security access.
  • Define diagnostic interfaces and readouts, including unit identity, firmware versions, and pass/fail data, for end-of-line test stations with the manufacturing test team.
Desired Qualifications
  • DoIP (ISO 13400) experience.
  • Experience with log and time-series stacks such as Loki, ELK, OpenTelemetry, and InfluxDB; eBPF-based observability tools; and fleet-scale telemetry pipelines, including retention, cardinality, and cost.
  • Hardware security module (HSM) and secure boot experience, plus secure diagnostics including UDS security access, authenticated sessions, and key management.
  • Experience configuring Dcm, Dem, FiM, WdgM, and E2E modules in an AUTOSAR Classic stack.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 (ASIL B through D), ASPICE, and MISRA C/C++.
  • Experience with end-of-line test, factory programming, or remote service diagnostics tooling.
  • Linux kernel, device tree, and Yocto board support experience, and experience with platforms such as NVIDIA DRIVE or Jetson.
  • Experience in autonomous vehicle, robotics, or mission-critical automotive domains.

About the company

Uber runs digital marketplaces that connect people seeking rides, meals and groceries with drivers, couriers and local merchants. Its Uber app includes private and shared rides, while Uber Eats lets customers order from restaurants and stores for delivery or pickup. Kalanick's Atoms raises $1.7B led by a16z to expand robotics across KitchenBASE in APAC

Atoms, the robotics and industrial automation group founded by Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick, has raised $1.7 billion. Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) led the round, joined by Uber, Bain Capital, Fifth Wall, and other institutional investors. Ben Horowitz, co-founder of a16z, joins the Atoms board. The group works in robotics across food, mining, and transport. Atoms Food includes KitchenBASE, a commercial kitchen network in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Australia. It also develops hardware such as automated bowl-builders and order conveyance robots to cut labour friction in kitchens. KitchenBASE offers licensed, ready-to-fit kitchens on flexible contracts, without the capital outlay of a traditional lease. Atoms expects the new investment in automation to improve efficiency and help operators scale faster.

Uber shares fell 3.43% to $66.70 on October 23, 2026, after The Information reported that Instacart is exploring a sale and had held early talks with Uber and DoorDash. Instacart closed up 9.2%. Bloomberg later reported that Uber walked away, citing one person familiar with the matter. Antitrust scrutiny and Uber's recent deal spree were flagged as hurdles. Uber has offered $14.8 billion for Delivery Hero and agreed on October 6 to buy ezCater for $2.3 billion in cash. Uber's chief executive officer, Dara Khosrowshahi, has said grocery and retail could grow bigger than its core food delivery business. Uber reports third-quarter results on November 4.

Uber's 12.1% operating margin tops rivals, but investors pay less for it than for JB Hunt

Uber Technologies keeps a larger share of sales as operating profit than four rivals in ride-hailing, delivery and freight. Its operating margin reached 12.1% over the past twelve months, up from a loss equal to 1.6% of sales three years ago. Free cash flow topped $10 billion for the first time. Yet investors pay less per dollar of Uber's earnings than for three peers. Uber trades at 15.2 times earnings, against 32.0 for JB Hunt and 99.7 for DoorDash. Uber stock fell 23.6% over twelve months, while JB Hunt rose 68.4%. Revenue growth slowed to 12.2% in the second quarter of 2026, while gross bookings grew 22%. Management blamed part of the gap on a UK business model change. Uber plans to invest $10 billion in autonomous vehicles. It has not yet sized the effect on profit.
