Full-TimeUpdated on 10/5/2026

Mid
Remote in USA
RemoteRequires on-site customer travel of 10 to 15 business days per quarter (approximately 15 to 20% annually).

About the job

Requirements
  • Hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, including daily use to profile customer datasets, build ETL pipelines, validate data mappings, scope integration work, and check integration assumptions.
  • Production experience building and shipping ETL pipelines, especially Python-based ETL, and deep working knowledge of data transformation and mapping, RESTful APIs, SFTP exchanges, file transfers, and database connectivity, including legacy and on-premise environments.
  • Practical experience with SSO protocols (SAML, OAuth, and OIDC), VPN configuration, firewall coordination, credential management in enterprise environments, and third-party vendor integration paths.
  • A demonstrated track record of owning technical projects through build, testing, and launch with an external customer; scoping-only, pre-sales-only, or handoff-and-advise experience is not sufficient.
  • Daily use of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar for research, drafting, data analysis, and workflow analysis, with concrete examples of workflows rebuilt using them; the candidate must understand and reason about the underlying pipelines, queries, and scripts without relying on a model.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical audiences, including presenting integration architecture to county IT teams and explaining timelines to elected officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with stakeholders, apply a user-centered mindset, and accurately relay customer goals and constraints to internal teams.
  • Ability to scope technical work precisely enough for engineering to build against it and ask discovery questions that resolve critical integration details in a Statement of Work.
  • Ability to learn continuously, work independently, make decisions with minimal supervision, and manage shifting priorities in a high-growth environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for on-site customer deployments 10 to 15 business days per quarter, approximately 15 to 20% annually; on-site kickoffs and deployments at county offices are core job duties.
Responsibilities
  • Own each customer installation from the Sales process through launch, including scoping, managing scope changes and new requests, and addressing risks that arise during implementation.
  • Conduct the initial project kickoff and establish infrastructure, network, and data-flow foundations before implementation, including securing system access, configuring authentication and network paths, coordinating vendor credentials, and validating technical readiness.
  • Engage prospective customers during Sales to understand operational needs, technical environments, integration landscapes, and dependent third-party vendors and systems.
  • Design tailored solutions using the Just Appraised product suite; query and profile customer data, build and validate ETL pipelines, evaluate data-access constraints, and test assumptions against customer systems.
  • Define expected product functionality and scope Statements of Work with detailed software and configuration specifications; translate customer requests into technical requirements and document integration dependencies, infrastructure needs, and vendor coordination.
  • Set expectations about the time, effort, and cost implications of custom features and communicate technical risks, including risks involving existing systems or vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate successful launches with Sales, Implementation Engineering, and Customer Success through daily stand-ups, kickoff meetings, training, and User Acceptance Testing; coordinate with third-party vendors and find viable paths forward when constraints exist.
  • Run implementations independently when Implementation Engineering is capacity-constrained, completing customer engagements end to end.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of key product functionality and contribute concrete product-enhancement proposals based on implementation insights.
  • Write Python and SQL code, build ETL pipelines against county data, and deliver code customers depend on.
  • Travel to county offices for customer kickoffs and deployments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience delivering technology solutions to local government, property tax administration, or public-sector customers.
  • Familiarity with CAMA systems, large ERP platforms, or other domain-specific government software.
  • Experience navigating third-party vendor ecosystems, including coordinating integration requirements, API access, or data-exchange agreements with external software providers.
  • A current or prior software engineering background with production experience shipping application code.

What believers are saying

  • Monterey extended a three-year SaaS renewal on June 9, 2026, signaling sticky usage.
  • Just Appraised named the 2026 GovTech 100 in February 2026, strengthening sales credibility.
  • The company is still hiring in 2026, with about 12 open remote roles and no layoff signal.

What critics are saying

  • County procurement cycles lock revenue to renewals; Monterey’s contract cap is only $132,000.
  • Tyler Technologies and entrenched assessor software vendors can bundle similar workflows into existing platforms.
  • If California assessor adoption stalls, Just Appraised loses its highest-value workflow and expansion narrative.

What makes Just Appraised unique

  • Just Appraised serves 300+ county offices across 30+ states as of August 2026.
  • It owns niche workflows: deeds automation, Prop 19, appeals, front-desk triage, and fraud monitoring.
  • Monterey County renewed Just Appraised through June 2029 after using its API since 2021.
