Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in CMF design in the automotive or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of color theory, material science, and manufacturing processes related to automotive applications.
  • Working knowledge of design software and tools inclusive of Autodesk all Adobe CS programs. Expertise in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Understanding of sustainability principles and experience in incorporating sustainable materials into design concepts.
  • Strong visual communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for color, texture, and material finishes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Basic understanding of CMF development timing and color matching/mastering process.
  • Candidate must have a passion for sustainability and innovative materials.
  • Very high color acuity - Successfully passed the Munsell Hue Test.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional communication and organizational skills are a must - Excellent at creating and maintaining both external suppliers and internal cross-functional working relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Lead mastering process of color/gloss/grain and haptic matching for interior and exterior materials and manage program timelines to ensure standards are on track for production.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams to source and develop new materials that meet our quality standards and design requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and key cross-functional partners, to procure on-time production feasible materials that meet design intent against aggressive program timelines.
  • Work with Materials Engineering as they conduct material tests and assessments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and performance expectations.
  • Follow Program Information from a CMF perspective. Working cross-functionally to ensure program information is tracked and released correctly.
  • Create and Manage CMF material library for all finishes, colors, and materials that are developed and will be mastered
  • Communicate master status to Design Leadership and escalate high risk items.
  • Holds high standards for quality, attention to detail and builds strong relationships with other team members while enjoying a dynamic work environment.
  • Participate in design reviews, presentations, and meetings, effectively communicating CMF mastering design.
