About the job

Requirements
  • 2–6 years in management consulting, investment banking, commercial real estate, renewable energy development, or a similar client-facing role.
  • Have run multiple workstreams at once and have the rigor to keep dozens of open items moving across many parties.
  • Communicate complex technical or legal detail clearly and actionably for a senior, non-technical audience.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and building a function.
  • Own outcomes directly rather than only advising on them.
Responsibilities
  • Build and run a structured, predictable owner-engagement system: pressure-test development items with the developer, present owners with clear asks explaining what is needed, why it matters, and by when, and provide regular detailed updates that maintain visibility and trust.
  • Spot risks to project timelines or economics early, including unfavorable incentive results, permitting delays, or interconnection cost surprises, and drive them to resolution. Advise owners on trade-offs and the best path forward when developer and owner interests diverge.
  • Drive post-signing workstreams from lease signature to commercial operation date, including site plan review and approval, lender items such as SNDA negotiation, lease amendments, memoranda of lease, incentive program applications, and construction logistics.
  • Keep forecasted and actual milestones current in Lumen's platform and HubSpot.
  • Lead quarterly reviews with owner stakeholders, including executive sponsors, covering portfolio progress and upcoming milestones, decisions, and expectations.
  • Design processes, dashboards, and communication standards to scale the function with Lumen's portfolio.
  • Build trusted relationships with developer partners and property managers at building-owner clients.
  • Share milestones with owners, such as program awards or reaching commercial operation date, and turn strong outcomes into case studies and references.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior work with sophisticated clients, especially institutional commercial real estate owners.
  • Familiarity with solar or renewable energy development, including interconnection, permitting, incentive programs, and community solar programs.
  • Exposure to real estate transaction documents, including leases, SNDAs, and lender consents.
  • Experience with HubSpot or a comparable customer relationship management platform.

About the company

Lumen Energy provides a platform for building owners and real estate companies to adopt solar energy and reduce energy costs and carbon emissions without upfront capital. It delivers immediate underwriting through data-powered financial models that compare returns across financing options such as cash purchases, loans, PPAs, and community solar. The platform is capital-structure agnostic, meaning it supports various financing setups so clients can choose the best option without being locked into one model. It also includes 24/7 CO2 emissions tracking, energy data collection, and ESG reporting to help monitor performance and streamline compliance. Lumen’s goal is to help clients quickly and confidently advance their clean energy strategy while lowering property management costs and residents’ utility bills.

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 Solar Index used 1,849 live bids, proving real transaction volume.
  • Watershed and Lumen partnered in February 2026, expanding access to enterprise sustainability buyers.
  • Customer claims show $33M new solar income and 1,500-plus properties, signaling portfolio traction.

What critics are saying

  • Commercial rooftop solar is fragmented; developer bidding compresses Lumen’s fees as Solar Index standardizes pricing.
  • The platform depends on Lumen’s own transaction data; thin coverage weakens benchmarking defensibility.
  • If larger sustainability suites internalize underwriting, Lumen becomes a replaceable feature by 2027.

What makes Lumen Energy unique

  • Lumen’s Lux Engine and Solar Index turn rooftop solar pricing into a benchmarked process.
  • The Watershed partnership embeds Lumen inside enterprise decarbonization workflows across distributed real-estate portfolios.
  • Lumen stays capital-structure agnostic, supporting PPAs, leases, self-financing, and CPACE debt.
