Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of EMS experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of EMS driving experience with a clean driving record
  • Active, valid certification as one of the following: NJ Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic or NJ Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN)
  • MICN applicants must obtain certification before completing the probationary period (per N.J.A.C. 8:41-9.9)
  • May receive conditional employment upon passing background check and physical exam for NJ reciprocity
  • Must obtain provisional EMT-Paramedic certification from NJDOH before starting work
  • Must obtain full NJ Paramedic certification per N.J.A.C. 8:41A-4.2 to remain employed
  • Valid driver’s license with New Jersey driving privileges (must meet Department of Transportation/Motor Vehicle Commission vehicle requirements)
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider
  • American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider or Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals – Advanced (PEPP-A)
  • Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100 or higher
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) Awareness (FEMA IS-700 or equivalent)
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness or higher
  • CBRNE or Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness or higher
  • Must pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test
  • Must be able to wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask per PEOSHA standards
Responsibilities
  • Provides and directs both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) in the pre-hospital setting
  • Works in coordination with EMS team members under the direction of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and EMS Supervisor
  • Responds to emergencies involving patients of all ages and backgrounds, in all weather and environmental conditions
  • Uses appropriate equipment and techniques to assess, treat, lift, and safely transport patients
  • Transports patients to appropriate medical facilities based on condition and care needs
  • Accurately completes all required reports and documentation
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support efficient EMS operations
  • Represents University Hospital and EMS with professionalism, integrity, and compassion
Desired Qualifications
  • CEVO (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator) training course preferred
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) provider card preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred
