Position Overview: As a Thermal Propagation Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing thermal propagation systems within our electric vehicle systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the safety, performance, and efficiency of thermal propagation components. This position requires a strong background in thermal engineering, a passion for renewable energy, and a commitment to driving excellence in electric vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Thermal Propagation System Design:
• Lead the design and development of thermal propagation systems, focusing on heat dissipation and containment strategies.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and mechanical engineering teams to integrate thermal propagation solutions seamlessly.
2. Simulation and Analysis:
• Conduct detailed simulation and analysis to optimize the performance and efficiency of thermal propagation components.
• Implement design improvements based on simulation results to enhance overall system reliability.
3. Testing and Validation:
• Oversee the prototyping and testing of thermal propagation components to validate design performance.
• Analyze test data and implement necessary adjustments to improve system efficiency and safety.
4. Safety Compliance:
• Ensure thermal propagation designs comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with regulatory compliance teams to meet industry-specific safety requirements.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with battery engineers, power electronics specialists, and control systems engineers to integrate thermal propagation systems into overall vehicle architectures.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support the production and assembly of thermal propagation components.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and reports for thermal propagation system components.
• Maintain accurate records of design changes, validation results, and safety compliance documentation.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in thermal propagation system design, preferably in the electric vehicle or automotive industry.
• Proficiency in simulation tools and analysis of thermal systems.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing of thermal propagation components.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to thermal propagation systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000-$135,000
