Requirements
- A BS degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering is required.
- Three to four years of experience in similar roles is required.
- Creative, proactive, analytical, leadership, negotiation, teamwork, communication, pressure-management, and literal-thinking abilities are required.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and presentation skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design Review Based on Failure Mode (DRBFM) is required.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), drawing interpretation, tolerance stack analysis, and basic reliability and statistics knowledge are required.
- Knowledge of SAP, problem-solving techniques, and risk assessment methodologies is required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Mechanical Resident Engineer in the plant and take responsibility for assigned projects.
- Perform design-related problem-solving activities and risk assessments, and address plant-related issues.
- Work on improvement projects as an extended resource to the Value Stream Organization (VSO), including scrap reduction, downtime reduction, fall-out-rate improvement, internal defect cost reduction, and line-utilization improvements.
- Support and assist with plant- and supplier-related issues, including tooling replacement and evaluation of local sources for mechanical components, as well as supplier delivery issues.
- Assess and provide development-perspective guidance on commodity-related issues involving plastics, die-cast components, and stamping.
- Take technical responsibility for cost-reduction initiatives, including component localization in North America and Ratio Project Planning (RPP).
- Assess the mechanical technical impact of product deviations.
- Lead internal and external communications, maintain transparent reporting of risks and problems, and plan the entire project realistically and completely.
- Organize internal and external escalation and crisis management, and integrate line management and motivate the project team.
