- More than 5 years of professional experience in Data Platform Engineering.
- More than 7 years of total professional experience in Software Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Python for writing custom data-loading logic, data-validation drivers, and cluster-based synchronization programs.
- Strong experience building automated, event-driven batch architectures and configuring status tracking, asset sensors, and task-dependency graphs for complex pipeline schedules.
- Advanced understanding of relational and analytical database engines, including when to use transactional relational setups such as MySQL transaction isolation levels and query-performance tuning versus highly optimized columnar or document-based architectures such as ClickHouse, OpenSearch, and BigQuery.
- Experience tracking system resources, logging pipeline runtimes, and setting up centralized data alerts in monitoring platforms such as Datadog.
- Ability to communicate complex architecture concepts, technical designs, and performance trade-offs clearly and simply.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of data initiatives, and collaborate productively with central infrastructure teams to align data handoffs, platform boundaries, and information architecture.
- Design, build, and maintain high-throughput reverse extract, transform, load replication pipelines connecting central core-platform systems with customer-facing reporting tools.
- Lead the migration of existing custom data-processing pipelines to a modern, scalable data architecture through a secure migration path.
- Evaluate whether data is structured correctly for downstream use cases and make strategic technical decisions about using MySQL aggregates, OpenSearch search-index layouts, BigQuery cloud warehouses, or ClickHouse columnar storage.
- Work closely with backend and analytics engineers to design high-performance, scalable data structures and own physical and logical modeling boundaries.
- Improve operational excellence across the data infrastructure through proactive monitoring, system reliability, and application stability.
- Maintain high standards for data-infrastructure stability and ensure long-term maintainability receives the same priority as delivering new features.
- Set engineering standards and evaluate technical trade-offs.
- Experience with modern data orchestrators such as Dagster or similar tools.
- Practical knowledge of dbt to collaborate effectively with and support analytics engineers.
- Prior experience in an e-commerce, retail-tech, or ad-tech ecosystem, with a solid understanding of commercial retail workflows or funnel metrics.
- Practical familiarity with, or the ability to read, object-oriented PHP and frameworks such as Laravel.
