Requirements
  • Must have earned at least a Master's degree from an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant-accredited Physician Assistant program and hold current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification, or have an earned professional or practice doctoral degree or research doctorate in a related field.
  • Must have an unrestricted Texas state license, or be license eligible, as a Physician Assistant.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical practice.
  • Must submit a completed online application, cover letter or letter of interest addressing qualifications, curriculum vitae or resume, at least 3 current professional references with full contact information, and unofficial transcripts.
  • Applicants with degrees earned outside the United States must submit transcripts translated into English and an official credential evaluation from a recognized service.
  • Official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution before a letter of appointment is issued.
  • Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon verification of credentials and other information required by institutional procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Program Director and the Director of Didactic Education to ensure cohesiveness of the didactic curriculum by implementing curricula in harmony with the educational philosophy of the Tarleton State University Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Medicine program.
  • Design original curricula or review and modify existing curricula to correlate with program-defined learning outcomes and competencies.
  • Generate and deliver classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within basic medical and clinical science topics based on individual qualifications.
  • Participate in programmatic data gathering and analysis and design and implement action plans in response to the analysis.
  • Participate in the accreditation process.
  • Participate in the admissions process.
  • Provide effective student advisement and mentorship.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in Physician Assistant medical education, scholarly activity, and servant leadership in rural health.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority.
  • Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as work requirements indicate.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous clinical precepting or teaching experience for an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant-accredited Physician Assistant program is preferred.
