Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of office administration practices and processes.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent computer skills and flexibility to adapt to new technology and various computer/software applications.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and set priorities; manage time; pay attention to detail; and resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to navigate high-volume periods and challenging student situations while maintaining a calm, patient, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to carry out special assignments by completing activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key point of contact for inquiries about programs, policies, and processes in one or more departments or programs.
  • Acquire and apply department knowledge to provide information for routine matters and escalate more serious matters.
  • Provide front-desk coverage and coordinate work-study student schedules to ensure appropriate coverage, customer service, and support during needed hours.
  • Organize and schedule meetings.
  • Track and maintain unit budgets.
  • Maintain office equipment, generate purchase orders, reconcile corporate credit cards, file documents, sort mail, answer department telephones and email, and order office supplies.
  • Gather, organize, and review data from a variety of sources for recordkeeping, reporting, and program management.
  • Assist with planning events and coordinating activities for workshops, conferences, and seminars.
  • Provide administrative support to one or more units, primarily the Office of Student Academic Affairs.
  • Serve as the front-line contact for undergraduate inquiries, requests for information, and appointments with advisors.
  • Liaise between students and University offices to help students navigate College and University processes and procedures.
  • Work with students and parents by phone, email, and in person.
  • Maintain a welcoming office atmosphere, respond to student needs, maintain office operations, ensure accurate and confidential recordkeeping, input data into central systems, and troubleshoot meeting technology.
