Requirements
  • A Master’s degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with emergency care and crisis management.
  • Demonstrated work experience assessing and treating a diverse population, substance addiction, eating disorders, multicultural adjustment issues, student health issues, and outreach and consultation in a university community.
  • Fluency in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish.
  • A current Massachusetts license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
  • Compliance with required training and applicable privacy, security, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for students presenting with mental health and well-being concerns by facilitating initial phone consultations.
  • Conduct clinical evaluations, screen for safety and risk factors, review available resources, and use clinical judgment to recommend appropriate services and support next steps in connecting students with care.
  • Use information gathered from students and monitor caseload capacity and utilization across CAMHS staff to determine appropriate provider assignments.
  • Enter consultation data into the Access database and submit documentation for all clinical encounters in the electronic health record.
  • Adhere to Access Team workflow and communication guidelines throughout the initial consultation, triage, and referral processes.
  • Provide interim counseling services for students who require stabilization or additional support connecting with off-campus resources.
  • Maintain a clinical caseload of students engaged in short-term therapy at CAMHS.
  • Facilitate urgent care appointments and support CAMHS staff in connecting students with resources following urgent care visits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of resources within and beyond CAMHS, including wait times and options for connecting students with CAMHS providers, Harvard resources, TimelyCare services, off-campus providers, group practices, and higher levels of care.
  • Maintain an understanding of services covered by the Student Health Fee and Student Health Insurance Plan, respond to students’ questions about covered services, and redirect them to appropriate contacts as needed.
  • Participate in Access Team huddles by raising questions and providing feedback and consultation regarding clinical encounters and resource options.
  • Participate in meetings with off-campus providers as coordinated or requested by the Team Manager, and collect and share student feedback about resources for review by the Access Team.
  • Collaborate with Access Clinicians, CAMHS support staff, therapists, the psychiatry team, and leadership to support triage of students’ needs and connection to appropriate resources.
  • Serve as a point person for CAMHS staff seeking to connect students with off-campus or higher-level care services by conducting outreach, determining appropriate resources, and providing information to facilitate next steps.
  • Support the review of ProtoCall reports and facilitate outreach and triage as needed.
  • Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities, including activities supporting applicable AAAHC standards, and maintain required HUHS documentation and monitoring standards.
  • Participate in the weekday urgent care schedule and departmental committees as applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with HUHS policies and departmental procedures.
  • Work Monday through Friday, including at least one day scheduled until 6 p.m.; travel may be required.
