Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience building or scaling internal developer platforms or sophisticated continuous integration and continuous delivery ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native compute, networking, and storage primitives, with the ability to implement them across different providers or hybrid environments.
  • Proven ability to manage container orchestration at scale with Kubernetes while abstracting complexity for end users.
  • Expert-level proficiency in declarative configuration management and modular infrastructure-as-code design using tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi.
  • Strong competency in scripting or systems programming with Python, Go, or Bash to integrate disparate systems into a unified platform.
  • Evidence of delivering security compliance, such as UK government Secure by Design, ISO 27001, NIST frameworks, or SOC 2, as a key component of development tooling.
  • Existing right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Current Security Check clearance or willingness to undergo UK security vetting to Security Check or above; this normally requires continuous UK residency for at least 5 years.
Responsibilities
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the internal developer platform, identify bottlenecks in the secure software development lifecycle, and build automated solutions to resolve them.
  • Architect and evolve standardized deployment patterns that incorporate security, compliance, and observability so product teams can focus on customer functionality.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and seamless integration of the self-hosted GitLab engineering suite with the wider ecosystem.
  • Manage infrastructure-as-code practices and tooling to deliver version-controlled, auditable, and reproducible infrastructure.
  • Drive adoption of modern deployment methodologies such as GitOps for declarative, reproducible, and audited state management across all environments.
  • Own automated security tooling, including static application security testing, dynamic application security testing, dependency scanning, container scanning, and secrets detection, to deliver security audit evidence for the platform.
  • Drive platform engineering and developer experience, treating infrastructure as a product for internal developers.
  • Build a team to continue delivering and improving platform capabilities as the company scales.
  • Engage stakeholders to build a DevSecOps roadmap and set technical direction to deliver required outcomes.
  • Support and mentor less experienced engineers by reviewing their outputs and providing feedback.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining and scaling critical engineering tools such as GitLab, Artifactory, or SonarQube at enterprise scale, including backup, restoration, and high-availability strategies.
  • Proven experience migrating workloads between platforms, such as EC2 to EKS or across clouds, with a focus on data integrity and minimal downtime.
  • Ability to implement standardized telemetry pipelines using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or ELK to provide developers with out-of-the-box service visibility.
  • Familiarity with automated policy enforcement and compliance-as-code using OPA, Kyverno, or AWS Config.
  • Experience implementing automated cost attribution and rightsizing logic to keep the platform economically sustainable as it scales.
  • Knowledge of service mesh architectures such as Istio or Linkerd for traffic management and mutual TLS.
  • Experience deploying software to classified environments or meeting UK Government security requirements.

Arondite connects and manages autonomous systems from different manufacturers through Cobalt, an AI software platform. It is hardware-agnostic and acts as a unifying data engine that fuses inputs from drones, robots, and sensors to give operators real-time analytics in a single cockpit. Unlike rivals who build new hardware or lock customers to one ecosystem, Arondite emphasizes interoperability and human–machine teaming across defense, critical infrastructure, and security. Its goal is to improve decision-making, efficiency, and safety by enabling seamless interoperability of autonomous systems.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Index-led funding and 126 open roles show aggressive scaling after May 2025.
  • Royal Navy Maritime Big Play exercises validate Cobalt with live multi-domain autonomous assets.
  • Babcock, HII, and Arondite's ARMOR Force collaboration expands Cobalt's path into fleet command.

What critics are saying

  • Cobalt must prove reliability across manufacturers before Babcock's end-2026 deployment deadline.
  • Defense procurement can stall; one British Army contract and one Royal Navy program dominate revenue.
  • Large hiring growth and deployed customer work strain delivery; integration failures kill trust fast.

What makes Arondite unique

  • Cobalt orchestrates mixed autonomy fleets; Royal Navy exercises use it in 2026.
  • Arondite won a March 11, 2026 British Army contract for 16 Air Assault Brigade.
  • Will Blyth and Rob Underhill combine battlefield insight, BAE engineering, and Palantir experience.
