Requirements
  • Between one and three years of internal wholesaling experience and one to three years of external wholesaling experience in financial services products.
  • FINRA Series 6 or Series 7, Series 63, and State Life/Annuity Insurance Agent licenses are required; required federal or state licenses and registrations must be acquired within the business unit's designated timeframe, and additional licenses or registrations may be required as products and services are implemented.
  • Knowledge of college-level mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, and investment management theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of financial services products, life insurance, long-term care insurance, contracts, securities trading and regulation, competitor products, and customer-service and investment-product processing policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Sophisticated interpersonal and written communication skills to communicate with and influence company officers, top brokers, home-office staff, and outside business partners.
  • Group presentation skills for audiences of company owners, officers, principals, executive boards, and financial intermediaries of up to 200 people.
  • Ability to teach state continuing-education courses to industry professionals.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, plus Lotus Notes and Salesforce CRM.
  • Time-management and organizational skills to lead statewide sales activities and manage multiple sales and distribution relationships.
  • Must live in the assigned geographical territory and have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record under Nationwide standards.
  • A valid credit check and/or background check is required as part of the selection process.
Responsibilities
  • Manage key distribution-partner relationships across the assigned geographic territory.
  • Provide support and expertise to key distribution partners through face-to-face meetings, webinars, virtual meetings, and social media posts.
  • Use a consultative approach to help distribution partners identify customer needs and recommend products; analyze financial-services products with advisors to identify solutions for their businesses and clients.
  • Regularly assess key partners to understand their business needs and expectations.
  • Advocate for distribution partners within Nationwide and evaluate and recommend solutions to marketing-strategy and product questions.
  • Use a business-plan approach to organize sales activity and touchpoints for targeted distribution partners, growing and sustaining those relationships while meeting or exceeding life-insurance territory production goals.
  • Analyze and manipulate data from multiple sources and use tools to coordinate outreach through in-person meetings, social media, digital marketing, telephone, email, virtual meetings, and webinars.
  • Actively manage pending opportunities, trials, and formal applications within the assigned territory.
  • Conduct training on products, life-insurance sales concepts, illustration software, underwriting, practice management, licensing, procedures, processes, and Nationwide services.
  • Provide weekly activity updates to sales management.
  • Provide input on products, solutions, and services to meet distribution-partner and customer needs.
  • Complete and document territory activities to meet company objectives.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Undergraduate studies in business, finance, communications, or liberal arts are preferred.
  • CLU, ChFC, FLMI, CFP, ASPPA, CLTC, or similar designations are preferred.

Nationwide hits record $73.2B in sales as insurer enters 100th year

Nationwide has reported record financial results for 2025, entering its centennial year with total adjusted capital of $32.8 billion, the highest in its 100-year history. The insurer achieved $73.2 billion in sales and premiums, up 7% from 2024, marking its fifth consecutive year of record growth.
