Super Micro's $19B quarter surprise lifts case for buying Nvidia stock at $220

Super Micro Computer raised its guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, saying revenue should reach $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion. In August, it had forecast $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The server maker credited "increased demand for AI platforms," and its shares rose about 9%. The midpoint of about $19 billion is almost four times the $5.0 billion it posted a year earlier. It now expects a gross margin of 12% to 12.5%, up from an earlier outlook of 10.4% to 10.8%. The figures are preliminary and unaudited. Full results are due November 3. Super Micro leads its AI lineup with Nvidia's Blackwell systems, so the result bodes well for Nvidia, which has forecast $108.0 billion in revenue for its fiscal third quarter. Nvidia trades near $220, about 14 times expected fiscal 2028 earnings.

Supermicro launches liquid-cooled 256-CPU Nvidia Vera rack for 22,500 agentic AI sandboxes

Super Micro Computer announced the NVIDIA Vera CPU rack on October 22, 2026, a 100% liquid-cooled system for agentic AI, reinforcement learning, and data processing. It is the latest addition to the company's Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) portfolio. The rack holds 256 NVIDIA Vera CPUs, with 22,528 cores and 45,056 threads. It supports up to 22,500 concurrent agent sandboxes. It can run standalone or alongside the Vera Rubin NVL72, which is now shipping. NVIDIA BlueField-4 DPUs handle networking and security, and the rack supports NVIDIA's OpenShell Reference Architecture to monitor and govern agent behaviour. Customers can power the rack with a traditional AC feed or an 800 VDC sidecar rack that uses battery backup units. The rack is available to quote now.

Supermicro and Nokia bring NVIDIA AI-RAN computing to the network edge

Supermicro is working with Nokia to deploy AI radio access networks (AI-RAN), from distributed cell sites to centralised network hubs. The system pairs Nokia's RAN technology with the NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer (ARC) platform and Supermicro's AI-optimised infrastructure. Placing accelerated compute closer to the access network lets operators run radio and AI workloads on shared infrastructure. It supports low-latency uses such as voice AI, vision AI, physical AI, and autonomous network operations, and offers a path to 6G. Supermicro's servers for NVIDIA ARC are available now. The ARC MGX 2U with dual Vera processor will follow later this year. The 2U ARC-Pro goes to customer testing later this year, with general availability in the first half of 2027.

Supermicro estimates Q1 FY2027 revenue of up to $19.5 billion.

Supermicro estimates Q1 FY2027 revenue of up to $19.5 billion. Published October 20, 2026 Fatima El-Sayed Data Centers & AI Infrastructure, AI Research Agent Super Micro Computer, Inc. on October 20, 2026 provided a preliminary business update for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, the quarter ended September 30, 2026, estimating revenue of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion versus prior guidance of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The company attributed the higher revenue estimate primarily to increased demand for AI platforms. Supermicro estimated gross margin for the quarter in a range of 12.0% to 12.5%, versus guidance of 10.4% to 10.8%, an increase the company attributed primarily to customer and product mix. The company, which describes itself as an AI, Enterprise, Storage, and 5G/Edge IT Total Solution Provider featuring Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS), did not provide updated earnings-per-share figures in the October 20, 2026 release. The figures are unaudited and based on preliminary results and management's estimates. Supermicro said the information is inherently uncertain and subject to revision in connection with its financial closing procedures and the finalization of its financial statements for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, and that actual results for the quarter may differ materially from the preliminary figures. The company said its independent registered public accounting firm has not audited, reviewed, compiled, or performed any procedures with respect to the preliminary revenue and gross margin estimates, and that the estimates are not a substitute for financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Supermicro scheduled a conference call to review its first-quarter fiscal 2027 financial results for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time and 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The call will be carried by live audio webcast on the company's investor-relations website, and a replay will be available shortly after the call at the same site and will remain accessible for one year. Original guidance issued in August. The prior first-quarter guidance was issued on August 11, 2026, alongside the company's fourth-quarter and full fiscal year 2026 results. At that time, Supermicro projected net sales of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, GAAP net income per diluted share of $0.89 to $0.98, and non-GAAP net income per diluted share of $1.01 to $1.10. Those per-share projections assumed tax rates of approximately 20.1% on a GAAP basis and 20.5% on a non-GAAP basis, fully diluted share counts of 745 million shares for GAAP and 761 million shares for non-GAAP, and approximately $106 million of expected stock-based compensation expense, net of $32 million in related tax effects, that is excluded from the non-GAAP figure. For the full fiscal year 2027, the company guided to net sales of $65.0 billion to $72.0 billion; the October 20, 2026 update did not address the full-year outlook. Prior results and recent disclosures. In the August release, Supermicro reported unaudited fourth-quarter net sales of $11.1 billion, versus $10.2 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2026 and $5.8 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025. Fourth-quarter gross margin was 17.5%, versus 9.9% and 9.5% in those respective periods, and net income was $1,178 million, or $1.62 per diluted share. Cash flow provided by operations was $747 million for the quarter, with capital expenditures and investments of $25 million. For the full fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, the company reported net sales of $39.1 billion versus $22.0 billion in fiscal 2025, gross margin of 10.8% versus 11.1%, and net income of $2.2 billion, or $3.26 per diluted share, versus $1.0 billion, or $1.68 per diluted share. As of June 30, 2026, cash and cash equivalents totaled $7.5 billion against total bank debt and convertible notes of $8.7 billion. Charles Liang, the company's founder, president and chief executive officer, said in the August release that Supermicro "added several hundred enterprise and other customers in the past year, generated more than $60 billion in new orders, and booked record backlog entering fiscal 2027." The August release also disclosed that the company's Board was conducting an independent review of certain transactions in connection with export-control issues, and cautioned that the outcome of that investigation could affect the company's forecasts as well as its preliminary and prior-period results. On August 20, 2026, the company announced the completion of an independent investigation and the continued enhancement of its export compliance program; the company said the investigation, led by independent members of the Board, concerned the March 2026 indictment of three individuals who were associated with the company at that time, identified as two employees and a contractor. More recently, on October 15, 2026, five days before the preliminary update, Supermicro announced the appointment of Mark Long as Chief Financial Officer, according to the company's investor-relations news archive.
