Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A current Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor credential is required, or the ability to complete requirements to obtain a CASAC (T) within six months of hire.
  • At least one year of clinical or quality assurance experience in a behavioral healthcare or human services organization, or one year of demonstrated clinical experience in substance use or mental health treatment, is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, OASAS, and 42 CFR regulations is required.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and utilization review systems is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems is required.
  • Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds is required.
  • The ability to accurately document records according to program standards is required.
  • The ability to work independently is required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely scheduled and required utilization reviews for residential services sites.
  • Conduct timely and complete quality and appropriateness reviews on a representative sample of treatment records for residential services sites.
  • Attend monthly and other required utilization review committee meetings.
  • Prepare accurate and timely utilization review committee minutes and reports.
  • Participate in the agency's Quality Improvement and Utilization Management Committee.
  • Provide supervisory support to CASAC Counselors and Peer Workers as needed, under the supervisory guidance of the Management/Leadership Team.
  • Monitor and evaluate ongoing chart audits.
  • Provide direct care services to clients as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining the agency's OASAS accreditation for the program, including standards review and conformance auditing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Higher education in the human services field is preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are desired.
