Requirements
  • For Pennsylvania candidates, graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program or be AART registered.
  • For New Jersey candidates, graduate from an ARRT-recognized School of Radiologic Technology.
  • One year of experience is required.
  • A current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) license and appropriate American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry are required.
  • Obtain advanced CT registry within one year of hire.
  • Obtain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
  • Meet the physical requirements, including frequent use of hands and fingers; sitting, standing, and walking; pushing, pulling, and lifting patients up to 300 pounds with assistance; occasional stooping and lifting; moving objects up to 30 pounds; and normal hearing and vision.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the radiologist during all aspects of invasive procedures and perform CT scan examinations as directed by the radiologist.
  • Communicate clinical observations during CT examinations and present clinical history recorded in appropriate documentation to the radiologist.
  • Demonstrate competency in the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • Inject contrast for CT scans according to department policy, and complete and review each patient's CT questionnaire before beginning the examination.
  • Perform 3-D imaging functions.
  • Provide patients with educational information about their examinations.
  • Maintain professional development through participation in in-services and continuing education programs.
  • Follow downtime procedures accurately to ensure appropriate information is available and continuity of patient care is maintained.
  • Know the patient's condition, history, and relevant background information for the proposed examination.
  • Ensure the quality of digital images sent to PACS, verify the correct patient is selected from the worklist, and confirm medical record information is accurate before sending images.
  • Contribute to achieving the department's designated Press Ganey score and provide patient education to every patient.
  • Meet department standards in the annual peer review of images.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience as a CT Technologist in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Recent CT scan experience is preferred.
