About the company

Standard Nuclear, Inc. designs, engineers, and manufactures TRISO fuel for next‑generation reactors. Its TRISO fuel uses uranium kernels encased in multiple ceramic and carbon layers to withstand extreme temperatures, and the company operates a toll‑manufacturing model where customers supply the uranium feedstock and Standard Nuclear converts it into finished fuel. Unlike many competitors, it does not own reactors and relies on a reactor‑agnostic production line in Oak Ridge, backed by privately funded IP and institutional investors. The company aims to support the growth of SMRs, microreactors, and other advanced systems by providing a reliable, scalable fuel supply that enhances decarbonization, energy security, and defense applications.

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 Antares contract raised funded backlog to $119.3 million and validated scaling demand.
  • Q2 2026 revenue reached $4.7 million, up eightfold year over year.
  • NYSE listing and $239.9 million cash fund capacity expansion before competitors catch up.

What critics are saying

  • SN-TN and SN-ID still need authorization; any Q4 2026 slip delays revenue.
  • Standard Nuclear's plutonium TRISO program has not started, leaving DOE ambitions unproven.
  • Backlog concentrates on few buyers like Antares and Radiant; one cancellation hits utilization hard.

What makes Standard Nuclear unique

  • Only independent U.S. TRISO supplier, serving multiple reactor developers without owning reactors.
  • Toll-manufacturing model lets customers provide uranium feedstock, reducing commodity exposure and simplifying contracts.
  • Oak Ridge heritage and USNC assets give Standard Nuclear industrial-scale TRISO know-how.
  • upsides
  • August 2026 Antares agreement lifted backlog to $576.9 million, validating commercial demand.
  • July 2026 NYSE IPO raised $137.7 million; pro forma cash reached $239.9 million.

Three nuclear stocks to watch in October 2026: Standard Nuclear, Cameco, TKMS

Power prices in the PJM grid recently spiked above $1,000 per megawatt hour when a heatwave hit as reactors and plants were offline for maintenance. The spike shows how fragile round-the-clock supply can be, and it has turned attention to carbon-free power stocks. Simply Wall St highlights three. Standard Nuclear, with a $2.1 billion market cap, makes TRISO fuel for small reactors and earns about $7.5 million from it. Planned 2026 approvals could lift capacity to 2.5 metric tons a year. Cameco, valued at C$54.7 billion, earns about C$2.9 billion from uranium, C$551 million from fuel services, and C$3.4 billion from Westinghouse. It is limiting new long-term contracts while seeking higher price floors. TKMS & Co KGaA, valued at €4.9 billion, builds submarines and warships for NATO navies. Its submarine unit brings in about €1.3 billion.

Standard Nuclear shares jump 4.45% after binding TRISO fuel supply deal with Radiant

Standard Nuclear's shares rose 4.45% to $14.31 following a binding TRISO fuel supply agreement with Radiant Industries. The deal covers multiple metric tons of fuel for Kaleidos microreactors through 2031. The stock has gained 10.33% over seven days and 89.79% over 30 days. Recent fuel contracts and a new board appointment have driven this momentum. However, a DCF valuation model estimates Standard Nuclear's fair value at $9.42, suggesting the stock is overvalued by nearly $5 per share at current levels. The company reported a $14.97 million loss on $3.36 million revenue, with a market capitalisation of $2.20 billion. The valuation gap raises questions about whether the TRISO contract pipeline is already fully priced into the shares.
