Trainual is looking for a VP of Finance to take us to the next level. Cliche, perhaps - but we are building something special and need a been-there-done-that finance leader who can propel us into our next stage and beyond. This role has a front-row seat with our founders to shape how capital is allocated, ranging from strategic things like fundraising and revenue modeling to unblocking the team day-to-day to ship the best possible product for our customers.

So, who are you? You’re a natural problem solver who’s up for any challenge. You dance the line between risk aversion and taking bets - maintaining fiscal responsibility while also saying yes to potentially BIG endeavors. Ethics are a non-negotiable, period. And you’re a partner to all - you support everyone in the business and have a deep understanding of how you can help drive growth and success in their respective areas.

What you will own & improve:

Strategic Finance Transactions, fundraising, M&A - check, check, check. You’ve run these in differing capacities and feel confident driving our big-picture efforts and optimizing capital allocation.
FP&A Planning, forecasting, compliance regulations, and P&L ownership - these are part of the job and you do them well. You’ll also develop these skills in your team and empower each functional leader to be your copilots in these efforts.
SaaS Best Practices Not only do you know finance, but you have a deep grasp of our business nuances and can contribute to cross-functional product efforts like price modeling, product launching, impacting net revenue retention, and more.
Team Leadership & Collaboration This role will touch every area of the business and bring teachings and insights to all. Our leadership team is wildly creative and this person is expected to help foster that and put the financial cherry on top of those initiatives.

Experience you bring to the table:

SaaS Finance, particularly in the ~$30-100M revenue range.
How to lead finance and its sub-functions You’ve overseen finance and accounting. Even better, maybe you’ve overseen analytics and other sub-functions of the business.
Fundraising You are confident in owning our next funding round and are an incredible financial storyteller.
Investment banking or private equity AKA, you’ve seen strategic finance in varying capacities.
Legal knowledge is a huge bonus. No, you don’t need to be a lawyer! However, knowing risk and legal best practices will give you an edge.

How success is measured:

Team Leadership: You’ll be an inspirational leader to the team - as indicated by eNPS, professional growth, and team morale.
Finance & Accounting Efficacy: You’re keeping your function and the business at large running smoothly - as indicated by the accuracy of financial reporting and forecasting, compliance with regulations and standards, cap table management and due diligence preparedness.
Business Acceleration: You’ve supported leadership in unlocking baseline business metrics - as indicated by increased ARR and NRR (as the finance partner to respective leaders). Long term, you’ll have led a fundraising round (or transaction) that impacts the health of the business.

About the team:

You’ll report directly to our founder/CEO, Chris Ronzio and will work closely with all of our leaders. You’ll directly manage Kelsey Curzon, our Director of Finance & Accounting and our Analytics team!

Compensation:

The compensation will be based on relevant past experience evaluated throughout the interview process. The salary for this role is ~$200-250k base + equity.

Paid time off: 4 weeks of paid vacation. 5 days of paid sick time. 12 paid holidays.

Paid parental leave, including adoption: 8 weeks of fully paid time off.

401k with a 3% matching through Guideline 401(k).

Experience stipend: Up to $500 per year to experience something new - whether that’s a new ice cream flavor or a new country.

Great tools: Each employee receives a Mac laptop and a 27’’ display (or equivalent). We’ll also purchase any of the software or hardware you need.

Complete transparency: Everyone has full access to business metrics and financial information about the company.

- Anyone can work from the office at any time. We often have remote folks in town working from our PHX office!

- Regardless of where you live or how often you come to the office, Trainual has the expectation that when you are “at work” whether that’s at the office or working from home, you are in a distraction free environment. This includes having full time childcare.

Location: 70% of our team is based out of Phoenix, AZ and our preference for new team members is local due to the ease of ad hoc collaboration and community building. However, we know great talent lives all over! If you don’t live in Arizona and are interested in working at Trainual, we will consider each state on a case-by-case basis due to the implications of doing business in each state.
