Requirements
  • Skilled in the use of standard software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, attorneys, and the general public.
  • Extensive knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, statutes, rules, and procedures governing the administration of court processes and services.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and discretion.
  • Sixteen hours of continuing education must be completed annually unless the court coordinator files the prescribed funding-unavailability certification.
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer all court operations.
  • Identify court management needs and develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with applicable codes and judicial direction.
  • Act as a liaison between the Judge and other interested parties regarding court matters.
  • Maintain case inventories and track the movement of cases through the legal process until final disposition.
  • Monitor 11.07 writs of habeas corpus and cases on appeal.
  • Schedule trial dockets while ensuring the availability of the Judge, court personnel, attorneys, jurors, and court facilities in compliance with Texas Supreme Court time standards.
  • Monitor daily dockets, jail population, case backlog, and new case filings.
  • Serve as liaison between the Judge, attorneys, litigants, and other Dallas County departments.
  • Conduct administrative hearings for pre-trial matters, docket calls, dismissal dockets, and announcements under the Dallas Local Rules.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems by intervening for the court and handling complaints, media requests, and community needs.
  • Identify court needs, document them through research, and prepare annual budgets, grant proposals, and requests for equipment, supplies, staff, and other resources.
  • Set bond amounts and reinstate bond forfeitures under specified guidelines and limitations imposed by the Judge.
  • Evaluate defendants’ financial status and appoint attorneys for indigent defendants under Senate Bill 7 guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain statistical reports for the Judge, Dallas County, and the State of Texas.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with the Texas Rules of Court, applicable codes, and judicial direction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
