Doctolib runs a digital healthcare platform that connects patients with healthcare professionals, mainly in France, Germany, and Italy. It provides online appointment booking, teleconsultation, and practice-management tools through subscription-based software for medical practices, hospitals, and individual clinicians. The platform helps patients find and book care quickly while giving providers a centralized system to manage schedules, patient communications, and administrative tasks. Unlike many options that focus on one feature, Doctolib combines patient access with practice management in a single solution, serving multiple types of healthcare clients across several European countries. The company’s goal is to make healthcare more efficient and easier to access by streamlining operations for providers and reducing barriers to care for patients, using a scalable subscription model to grow across markets.

What believers are saying

  • Doctolib bought Medicus in May 2026 and committed over £100 million.
  • The company launched Care Forward with AP-HP and Roche in April 2026.
  • A €300 million secondary sale in April 2026 showed continuing employee and investor demand.

What critics are saying

  • The French Competition Authority fined Doctolib €4.665 million in November 2025.
  • That ruling weaponizes future acquisitions under competition scrutiny, especially smaller rivals.
  • A failed UK rollout against NHS incumbents would expose Doctolib's cross-border expansion thesis.

What makes Doctolib unique

  • Doctolib dominates France, Germany, and Italy with sticky provider workflow software.
  • Its product spans booking, teleconsultation, and practice management, reducing switching incentives.
  • The 2026 Medicus acquisition gives Doctolib NHS access and London engineering talent.

Doctolib, AP-HP and Roche launch healthtech startup programme at STATION F

Doctolib, AP-HP and Roche have launched Care Forward, a support programme for European healthtech startups at STATION F in Paris. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between healthcare innovation and clinical deployment by providing startups with direct access to hospital environments, regulatory expertise and AI support. The programme targets startups developing technologies across the care pathway, including digital solutions, AI, connected devices and healthcare services. Doctolib will offer technology integration and European deployment strategies, whilst AP-HP provides access to clinical environments across Europe's largest university hospital system with 38 hospitals. Roche will assist with regulatory navigation and health economic validation. Participating startups will also gain access to specialised investors and exclusive industry events. Applications are open until 15 May.

Care Forward: Doctolib, @Hôtel-Dieu (AP-HP), and Roche join forces at STATION F.

Care Forward: Doctolib, @Hôtel-Dieu (AP-HP), and Roche join forces at STATION F. Three major health players launched "Care Forward" at STATION F to help Europe's next-gen health startups move faster and scale from concept to real clinical adoption. Published on Apr 17, 2026 We're excited to announce the launch of a new program in the health space, led by Doctolib, @Hôtel-Dieu (AP-HP), and Roche. The goal is simple: bring health innovations closer to where they matter most: patients and care teams. Based at STATION F, the "Care Forward" program is open to European startups with the potential to deliver clear, measurable impact on the healthcare system. The focus is straightforward but demanding: solutions that work in practice. Whether building in digital health, AI, connected devices, or care services, selected startups will be supported to test, validate, and deploy their solutions in real clinical environments. From diagnosis and treatment to follow-up and system efficiency, all parts of the care pathway are in scope, as long as the impact is concrete. Direct access to technology, clinicians, and patients. What sets this program apart is not just mentorship or office space, it's proximity. Selected startups will receive tailored, hands-on support from three key players in European healthcare: * Doctolib will bring its deep expertise in product integration, AI in healthcare, and practitioner workflows, helping startups build solutions that can scale across Europe and truly fit into daily medical practice. * @Hôtel-Dieu (AP-HP) will open the doors of Europe's largest university hospital system. Startups will gain access to innovation platforms and clinical environments, and leverage the expertise of professionals across the 38 hospitals of AP-HP, to ground their solutions in real needs. * Roche will support founders in navigating regulatory pathways, demonstrating health economic value, and connecting with a global network of scientific and medical experts. Beyond this, participants will meet specialized investors, engage with industry stakeholders, and gain access to key events across Europe's health ecosystem. Bridging innovation and adoption. As Doctolib's Managing Director France, Jean-Urbain Hubau, puts it: "Our healthtech ecosystem is full of talent, but the real challenge remains scaling and adoption by healthcare professionals." For @Hôtel-Dieu (AP-HP), the initiative also reflects a broader ambition: bringing innovation closer to care delivery. As Nicolas Castoldi, Deputy Director to the CEO of AP-HP and Executive Director of the @Hôtel-Dieu initiative, notes, it builds on the transformation of the Hôtel-Dieu hospital into a major innovation hub; one rooted in both history and forward-looking healthcare. And for Roche, the logic is ecosystem-driven. As President Jean-François Brochard emphasizes, shaping the future of health requires coordinated partnerships where startups and established players work side by side to improve care pathways and system efficiency. Selected startups will join the program following the application phase, which runs until May 15th, and will be announced shortly afterwards at a dedicated event at STATION F. Applications are open here. Media & press relations Looking for press resources? Download our press kit and get in touch with our media team.
