About the job
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- A Professional Engineering license is required.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in transportation projects with a focus on bridge design is required.
- Experience producing conceptual, preliminary, and final design plans for bridge projects in accordance with federal and state codes is required.
- Experience performing bridge load ratings is required.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a design team and manage small design groups and projects is required.
- Ability to develop CAD drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD is required.
- Ability to develop proposals and schedules and manage tasks independently is required.
- Provide lead structural engineering and project engineering responsibilities on design projects.
- Prepare detailed plans for new and rehabilitation bridge designs.
- Perform engineering design calculations.
- Develop contract specifications, construction cost estimates, and contract bid documents.
- Lead a team of structural engineers on design projects.
- Perform field inspections to evaluate existing conditions, document findings, and record field measurements.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control duties for projects.
- Provide mentoring and training to junior engineers.
- Assist with preparation of task proposals.
- Experience in the Mid-Atlantic Region is preferred.
