ARC'TERYX's Walk Gently "Salish Winter" Collection dresses GORE-TEX in deer fur and cedar.

ARC'TERYX's Walk Gently "Salish Winter" Collection dresses GORE-TEX in deer fur and cedar. A dedicated installation at Dover Street Market London unpacks the six-piece capsule. Summary. ARC'TERYX returns with "Salish Winter," the newest chapter of its Walk Gently platform spotlighting Indigenous artists, designers and their stories Creative lead Cole Sparrow-Crawford of the x[w]məθk[w]əy̓əm (Musqueam) nation shapes the gender-neutral apparel and footwear around Salish relationships to land and natural materials Deer-fur-inspired GORE-TEX prints, weaving references and cedar-tree camouflage translate traditional practices into cold-weather technical gear ARC'TERYX has unveiled Walk Gently "Salish Winter," a six-piece collection launching exclusively at Dover Street Market London. Led by Walk Gently creative lead Cole Sparrow-Crawford of the x[w]məθk[w]əy̓əm (Musqueam) nation, the capsule pairs the Vancouver brand's technical construction with design cues rooted in Salish winter life. Weaving, hide tanning and seasonal harvesting all inform the details, giving each piece a story that runs deeper than its spec sheet. The Dekoi Jacket anchors the collection as its technical centerpiece, a GORE-TEX hardshell finished in a print modeled on deer fur. That pattern nods directly to hide tanning, one of the practices the collection sets out to honor, while bursts of high-visibility orange cut through the earthy base to keep the wearer visible in snowy, low-light terrain. The result merges a waterproof, mountain-ready shell with a surface that reads like a material Salish communities have long relied on. Insulation arrives through the Mutton Insulated Jacket, offered in Arctic Silk/Rune, whose design pays tribute to Salish weaving traditions. Where the Dekoi handles weather protection, the Mutton is built for warmth, giving the capsule a layering system that can move from a heavy outer shell to a midweight insulated piece. The Adze Pant completes the ready-to-wear lineup in a matching Rune/Arctic Silk colorway, allowing the pant and insulated jacket to be worn as a coordinated set. Footwear and headwear extend the story to the extremities. The Konseal Trek Boots are engineered for winter ground and dressed in a Green/Black print drawn from cedar-tree camouflage, connecting the shoe to the forests that have sustained Salish communities. Two versions of the Selisya Toque, one in Tatsu/Blaze and one in Rune/Arctic Silk, finish off the drop and tie back to the palettes used across the jackets and pants. The release is grounded in place as much as design. ARC'TERYX was founded on the unceded territories of the x[w]məθk[w]əy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, the original caretakers of the land now known as Vancouver, and Walk Gently was created to share Indigenous work in the designers' own voices. By centering those traditions, the platform states in the release that "it is our hope that everyone in the outdoor community may more deeply consider the places we journey through." Each Walk Gently collection also directs funds and product back to the communities it celebrates, while the broader program aims to raise Indigenous representation across the outdoor industry and in mountain spaces. ARC'TERYX Walk Gently "Salish Winter" is available now in-store at Dover Street Market London and on the DSML E-SHOP, with a dedicated installation on view at the London store from October 21 to October 30.

Arc'teryx opens first climbing-focused store on Abbot Kinney.

Arc'teryx opens first climbing-focused store on Abbot Kinney. Published: October 12, 2026, 11:59 am Last updated: October 12, 2026, 11:58 am Arc'teryx Equipment has opened a store on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice that the company calls its first retail concept dedicated exclusively to climbing. The store at 1116 Abbot Kinney Blvd. opened Saturday, Oct. 3. It is the North Vancouver, Canada-based apparel and equipment company's fourth location in Los Angeles and fifth in Southern California. Along with Arc'teryx climbing apparel and equipment and a curated selection of third-party climbing products, the store includes a climbing wall, a lounge, an outdoor patio and a beta board where local climbers can gather, train, learn and connect. "At Arc'teryx climbing is part of our DNA and community has always been core to how we think about retail," said Delaney Schweitzer, the company's general manager for North America. Schweitzer said the store was designed to preserve the character of an existing building while creating a flexible space that can shift between retail, climbing and community programming. The built-in Grasshopper climbing wall can be activated for events, with routes and holds updated regularly by local partner Long Beach Rising. The store's Beta Lounge features furniture from local design studio WAKA WAKA, climbing guidebooks and current issues of Alpinist and Summit Journal. Large-scale athlete imagery and displays of photographs, artifacts, books and written narratives highlight the people and preparation behind significant ascents. A rotating projection series, Arc Presents, will bring climbing films and other content into the space. The patio can be configured for workshops, small gatherings and screenings, and flexible fixtures allow the retail floor to host films, workshops, talks and other events. Arc'teryx has worked with local climbing partners including ABA and Long Beach Rising, which will help shape events, workshops and in-store climbing experiences. Long Beach Rising will also support the store's selection of third-party climbing products. "Our best stores are shaped by the communities they serve," said Stephanie Jamieson, the company's senior director of brand community for North America. Jamieson said the goal was to create a place where Los Angeles climbers would want to spend time, learn from one another and connect with the local scene. The store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Arc'teryx products are sold through more than 160 branded stores and more than 2,400 retail locations worldwide. Edited by SMDP Staff
