Requirements
  • A diploma or bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Logistics, Port Operations, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in marine operations, coordination, or administration.
  • Sea-going experience as a deckhand or Engine Room Assistant is required.
  • Working knowledge of port operations, marine logistics, and Transport Canada safety regulations.
  • A valid Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate.
  • A Domestic Vessel Safety certificate.
  • A Transport Canada Certificate of Competency, such as Master Limited or Watchkeeping Mate, or equivalent, depending on vessel class.
  • A valid British Columbia driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and marine operations or scheduling software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a 24/7 operating environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Kitimat, British Columbia, up to approximately 15% of the time.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment and, where applicable, random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day vessel operations and respond to operational requirements, including scheduling changes and customer requests.
  • Plan and manage crew-change logistics, including timing, location, and transportation or accommodation needs.
  • Track and manage the planned maintenance system for all vessels, coordinating with technical and engineering resources for repairs beyond minor scope.
  • Troubleshoot and carry out minor repairs on small engines and generators as required.
  • Supervise and support crew by providing coaching and on-the-job training in proper vessel operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure crew members are skilled, qualified, and current on required certifications and safety training.
  • Coordinate crew training sessions, toolbox talks, and compliance audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Transport Canada marine safety regulations and the company's Safety Management System.
  • Uphold health, safety, security, and environmental standards across marine operations, and lead or support incident investigations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate vessel logs, permits, and records of vessel movements, weather conditions, and marine incidents.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and compliance reports for the Senior Marine Manager.
  • Support operational budgeting, invoicing, and procurement activities.
  • Coordinate operational meetings and provide general administrative support to the marine operations team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience sailing as a licensed deck or engineering officer is a strong asset.
