Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Some experience in healthcare or human services is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Help the people supported to have meaningful lives by listening to their dreams and helping them learn skills to live the lives they choose.
  • Help each individual identify what is important to them and involve them in activities matching their interests, gifts, and plans.
  • Help individuals form and maintain positive relationships with people in their community.
  • Respect the rights of the people supported and teach them to advocate for themselves.
  • Use a person-centered philosophy throughout the day and treat each moment as a teachable moment.
  • Protect the health of the people supported, including giving medication, following doctors’ orders, attending medical appointments, and seeking emergency medical care when necessary.
  • Participate with team members in developing the service plan and carry out assigned responsibilities.
  • Protect the safety of the people supported by providing supervision described in the service plan and reporting potentially dangerous situations to a supervisor.
  • Follow agency procedures for incident reporting and reporting possible abuse, and cooperate with agency and division staff during investigations and inspections.
  • Communicate politely and professionally with others.
Desired Qualifications
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred, depending on program needs.
