Junior Software Engineer

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to join our team developing geospatial analysis, data processing, visualization, and AI-enabled solutions using modern cloud technologies and the ArcGIS Enterprise technology stack.

This is a prime contract opportunity where you'll work alongside experienced engineers on mission-critical systems while building your skills in software development, AWS, artificial intelligence, geospatial technologies, and DevOps.

You don't need to be a GIS or AI expert to be successful in this role. We're looking for someone with a solid software development foundation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and experiment with emerging technologies.

What You'll Do

As a Software Engineer, you'll contribute to applications and services that process, analyze, and visualize geospatial data. You'll also have opportunities to explore how AI and machine learning can be incorporated into applications, development workflows, data analysis, and automation.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Develop, test, and maintain software applications, APIs, and geospatial services.
• Write clean, maintainable code using languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, or .NET.
• Work with experienced engineers to design and implement new capabilities.
• Explore the use of AI and generative AI to enhance applications, automate workflows, analyze data, and improve software development processes.
• Gain experience integrating AI models and services through APIs into software applications and workflows.
• Learn how applications integrate with ArcGIS Enterprise, databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled services.
• Work with AWS and cloud-based development and deployment environments.
• Use Git and modern software development workflows to manage and collaborate on code.
• Participate in code reviews and learn software engineering best practices from experienced team members.
• Troubleshoot software issues and help improve application performance and reliability.
• Gain exposure to CI/CD, DevOps, containers, APIs, AI-assisted development, and enterprise software deployment.
• Work with geospatial data and near-real-time data feeds supporting mission applications.

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Coursework, internship, project, or professional experience with at least one programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, .NET, or SQL.
• Basic understanding of software development concepts and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with source control tools such as Git.
• Interest in learning cloud technologies, AI/ML, enterprise software development, and geospatial systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a technical team.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $110,000-$155,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
