Career Opportunity: Credit Risk Specialist with Cincinnati Development Fund – Cincinnati, OH

We are seeking a meticulous Credit Risk Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for credit risk reviews and underwriting commercial real estate development real estate projects. You will ensure that all loans are structured in accordance with CDF’s lending policies and procedures, aligning with our risk profile and the expectations of our Loan Committee and Board.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Gather, verify, and analyze documents in loan files, such as credit reports, loan applications, title policies, appraisals, and financial statements.
- Serve as a liaison to loan applicants for the Credit Risk Manager and Loan Officer in the loan underwriting process.
- Prioritize, track, and manage the loan underwriting process in order to meet deadlines and ensure timely submission to the Credit Risk Manager.
- Work with the Credit Risk Manager to perform credit analysis and determine repayment probability using risk management matrices.
- Sign off on underwriting loan conditions according to underwriting guidelines.
- Keep abreast of all new credit regulations and laws and ensures compliance with such.
- Asset management duties: property tax verification, insurance recordkeeping, etc.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform property inspections, as needed.
- Assist in analyzing lending policies and procedures to conform with industry data and CDF’s loan portfolio.
- Assist the Portfolio Manager in the loan closing process and loan servicing, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but will accept an associate degree with previous underwriting experience.
- An understanding of real estate terminology and real estate lending practices.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other financial documents.
- Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Superior organization and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) community development resources/needs.
- Banking/lending experience preferred.
