Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience is required.
  • A current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I certification is required.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification is required.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification is required.
  • Trained and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field is required and must be validated.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must pass relevant tests and/or achieve valid signatures.
  • Candidates must be able to create and maintain accurate and confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • Candidates must be skilled in using computers and common software applications and able to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • Candidates must be able to drive a company vehicle and comply with company operating and safety guidelines.
  • Candidates must be able to follow directions and communicate effectively.
  • Candidates must be able to move, lift, or carry materials up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Candidates must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding and physically maneuver construction sites and excavations.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued by their state of residence and be insurable under applicable company policies.
  • Candidates must be able to work night shifts, weekends, early mornings, and changing schedules, and have reliable transportation to and from the branch office.
  • Candidates must be able to understand and communicate in English, including by telephone.
Responsibilities
  • Provide testing observation on assigned field projects according to applicable specifications for independent testing laboratories.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples and perform field observations and documentation of construction activities involving soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Clearly identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and activities.
  • Receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
  • Review civil and structural plan specifications and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements with some supervision.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate non-conforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with the Radiation Safety Program Policy.
  • Perform One-Point Proctor testing in the field.
  • Travel daily to and from construction work sites, generally within 100 miles of the home office, and undertake short-term or occasional longer out-of-town assignments.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities as needed.
