Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Two to three years of industrial maintenance, repair, and operations purchasing experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements is required.
  • Effective communication and listening skills are required.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills are required.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and a computerized maintenance management system is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills are required.
  • Expertise in handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a complex manufacturing environment is required.
  • Ability to work shifts of 10 hours or more, including days or nights and some weekends, is required.
  • Ability to work in an environment handling pork products, alcohol, gluten, milk and dairy, and potentially tree nuts and peanuts is required.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical equipment concerns, maintain and improve production line equipment integrity and performance, and complete scheduled work orders.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and corrective work orders during maintenance windows to prevent mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
  • Participate in developing and improving documented maintenance procedures in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Develop and implement improvements based on emergent equipment work to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system to create notifications and complete and confirm work orders, while holding the crew accountable for system use.
  • Operate and maintain assigned equipment, including equipment setup, startup, adjustment, shutdown, and changeover according to company standards.
  • Read blueprints and schematics.
  • Maintain knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, valves, accumulators, compressors, and pipefitting, and troubleshoot and repair those systems.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam processes to identify failure points and repair system problems.
  • Coordinate required maintenance activities with the maintenance team and production management to support line efficiency and product quality.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with line technicians and leads on other shifts.
  • Support implementation of department ideas and suggestions.
  • Work with the team to optimize product and material sequencing, minimize changeover time, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach team members on maintenance and operational aspects to improve their technical understanding of equipment and process controls.
  • Work with the supervisor to identify and develop crew members in areas requiring additional exposure and knowledge.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality food meeting Safe Quality Food, regulatory, company, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and a sanitary, clean environment during production and maintenance.
  • Perform mandatory quality tests and checks and complete related quality and safety documentation.
  • Follow company safety policies and practices and report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points checkpoints, quality standards, fall protection, hot work, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and other company procedures.

  • Knowledge of small machine-part and guard fabrication.

  • A degree or certification in a maintenance-related field.
  • Understanding of food-safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
