The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers on a computer keyboard and other office equipment, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds during a standard 4- or 8-hour shift.
The role requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and a constant state of alertness in a safety-sensitive work environment.
Responsibilities
Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
Ensure youth enrolled in activities are engaged, encourage participation, and support consistent attendance.
Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling, and overall direction for leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
Implement and administer programs, services, and activities effectively.
Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure member safety, program quality, and the club's appearance.
Engage members successfully in activities and provide a safe environment.
Support members' emotional and social development by encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
Plan and facilitate purposeful, engaging activities and group projects.
Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other administrative work.
Participate in training and staff development activities.
Participate in club staff meetings to support a productive work environment.
Maintain close daily contact with club staff, volunteers, members, and the supervisor to exchange information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, instruct, collaborate, and advise or counsel.
Clean, set up, and close down the program area daily.
Desired Qualifications
Certifications and credentials in the respective skill-based activity are highly preferred.
CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.

JOB TITLE: YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL- Youth (K-7th Grade)
DEPARTMENT: CLUB OPERATIONS
REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
Youth Development Professionals plan, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area: Tween or Pre-Tween Program/Teen Program
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive)
Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
Ensure engagement, promote and stimulate participation, and consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members and overall direction for their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement and academic progress
Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities.
Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all time.

The noise level in the work environment is high due to work is conducted in a Club setting, indoor/outside.
It is the policy of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment.
All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening.
No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources.
Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement
