AREA 17 is a brand and digital product agency that partners with trusted organizations to create lasting value through craft, impact, and soul. It combines branding, user experience, design systems, technology, and product management to concept new brands and digital products and to innovate on and transform existing ones. Their work helps simplify business, inspire new behavior, and serve people’s needs, with a focus on building products and brands that improve how people interact with the internet instead of distracting from it. The company differentiates itself through its dual role as consultants and craftspeople, a global, 70+ person team from 18 countries speaking 13 languages, and a culture built on rigor, curiosity, kindness, courage and je ne sais quoi. Its goal is to advance digital practice in a way that supports a more open, resilient, and optimistic world by making digital experiences meaningful and valuable for users and organizations alike.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AREA 17 still has active 2025 clients including Fondation Cartier and Latent Labs.
  • Recent updates highlight AI and museum work, signaling demand in resilient premium sectors.
  • Five current openings show hiring momentum, not contraction, across Brooklyn and Paris.

What critics are saying

  • Work still depends on client budgets; one weak renewal can hit utilization fast.
  • OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and MultiOn concentrate AI-adjacent exposure if that niche cools in 2026.
  • A 70-person agency faces talent churn; losing senior partners would damage delivery immediately.

What makes AREA 17 unique

  • Paris-New York studios give AREA 17 cross-border delivery for global institutions.
  • Their roster includes OpenAI, Fondation Cartier, Lucas Museum, and Harvard University Press.
  • They blend brand strategy, product design, and technology into one retained-services shop.
