Requirements
  • At least two years of related experience in a paint shop and production-floor environment.
  • Working knowledge of paint department processes and principles, including current technologies.
  • General knowledge of production control and scheduling systems.
  • Blueprint reading skills and working knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and TS 16949 requirements.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and basic knowledge of programmable logic controller programming.
  • Strong knowledge of paint application processes.
  • Basic knowledge of machining, tooling, electrical systems, and schematics.
  • Competence with personal computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and email, as well as familiarity with database-related software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in a plant or factory environment with exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass, and heat, while following required personal protective equipment procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Specify, design, implement, and track improvements to robot path programming and the optimization of manipulators, applicators, and fluid-delivery processes.
  • Ensure that paint-process setup instructions are current, at the correct revision level, and accurate.
  • Coordinate trial runs and quality improvements for the paint process with Maintenance and Production.
  • Implement cost-reduction improvements for new and existing equipment and processes.
  • Provide technical support to Production and Engineering operations for improvement programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers, Studio 5000, and paint-shop pretreatment processes.
  • Experience with Fanuc P-250 and Modicon programmable logic controllers.
