About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • At least 4 years of related professional experience is required.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Intermediate-level understanding of geotechnical software and related tools, such as FLAC, PLAXIS, and MathCAD, is required, including familiarity with static and dynamic analyses, liquefaction evaluation, seismic slope stability, and nonlinear deformation modeling.
  • Ability to perform physical activities and heavy work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and viewing a monitor or screen.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
  • Employees must conduct work safely, identify and report potential safety hazards, participate in project safety briefings, wear appropriate safety equipment in the field, and complete required health and safety training before beginning fieldwork.
Responsibilities
  • Lead or coordinate subsurface exploration programs and construction observation activities as needed, ensuring work is consistent with project plans and specifications and follows safety guidelines.
  • Assist in training junior technical and technician staff in geotechnical field activities, analyses, and documentation.
  • Complete geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations, including static and dynamic analyses, dynamic soil-structure interaction, liquefaction and lateral spreading evaluations, seismic slope stability, ground improvement design, and nonlinear deformation analyses under senior staff guidance.
  • Support complex geotechnical evaluations, including ground response, temporary and permanent shored excavation behavior, foundation and retaining structure design, earthwork, and pavement-related analyses.
  • Develop geotechnical project deliverables, including calculations, figures, tables, and supporting documentation for analyses and design recommendations.
  • Lead preparation of technical reports, figures, and tables for geotechnical projects, and assist senior staff with portions of large, complex reports and performance-based design deliverables.
  • Support project management through budget planning, field report reviews, proposal development, and schedule coordination; manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or geologist as required.
  • Gather project-related field data and samples, including soil and groundwater data as needed, and coordinate laboratory testing to support geotechnical analyses and design.
  • Complete detailed, accurate field reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.

About the company
