What Ripple does: Ripple provides enterprise blockchain-enabled financial services that speed up payments and improve cash management. How it works: its platform, built on blockchain and cryptocurrency, enables real-time settlement, liquidity management, working-capital access, and instant payments for financial institutions, enterprises, and governments, including the ability to source crypto assets and manage treasury via a single platform. How it differs: it focuses on scalable, secure CBDC implementations and government partnerships (e.g., Palau) to deliver central-bank-grade digital currencies, alongside proven faster remittances and lower costs from clients like Nium and Tranglo. Its goal: help clients move money faster, more transparently, and at lower cost, while expanding access to digital currencies and CBDCs.

What believers are saying

  • Ripple announced ZILO and Licuido investments on August 3, 2026.
  • Aviva Investors launched a tokenized USD Liquidity Fund on XRPL in July 2026.
  • RLUSD reached about $1.66 billion market cap by August 17, 2026.

What critics are saying

  • SEC appeals and prior injunctions keep legal overhang alive through 2026.
  • XRPL 3.3.0 needs validator approval; weak voting delays shipping and undermines credibility.
  • RLUSD's $1.6 billion cap still trails incumbents like USDC and USDT by orders of magnitude.

What makes Ripple unique

  • Ripple owns XRPL infrastructure, RLUSD, and capital-markets tooling for institutions.
  • XRPL 3.3.0 adds Confidential Transfer, Batch, Permission Delegation, and Sponsored Fees.
  • Ripple partners with ZILO, Licuido, Aviva Investors, and SBI on tokenization.

XRP Ledger 3.3.0 nears launch after community security review.

XRP Ledger 3.3.0 nears launch after community security review. What to know: * XRP Ledger 3.3.0 moved closer to launch after a community-led security review tested five major protocol amendments. * New features include Confidential MPTs, Batch Transactions, Permission Delegation, Sponsored Fees, and Dynamic MPTs. * Ripple partnered with Sherlock for the audit, uncovering issues across severity levels and rewarding 309,000 RLUSD to security researchers. The XRP Ledger is a step closer to its next upgrade following the completion of a community security review of its future features. The security review was intended to assess the security of several new features slated for inclusion in XRP Ledger version 3.3.0. This past week, Jazzi Cooper, who is the RippleX Head of Product, revealed more information regarding the imminent release of the new XRP Ledger 3.3.0, with five new amendments. XRP Ledger 3.3.0 adds five new features. The upcoming release has several updates that will enable increased functionality of the XRP Ledger. The most important update is the introduction of Confidential MPTs. With the use of zero-knowledge proofs and elliptic curve cryptography, the functionality will provide anonymity for the transfer of Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs). The other notable feature is Batch Transactions. It will allow up to eight transactions of various accounts to be conducted as one atomic transaction. The update also brings Permission Delegation, which will allow organizations to delegate permissions for transactions without giving away signing permission. This provides more options to organizations in a secure manner. The update will also bring Sponsored Fees and Reserves, allowing one account to pay the fees and reserves of another. This feature may be useful when welcoming new members to the system. The fifth amendment, Dynamic MPT, allows token issuers to define which token properties can be updated after issuance, giving projects greater flexibility when managing their assets. Community security review finds issues before launch. The XRPL Operations account at X claims that all new features to be added to XRP Ledger 3.3.0 have been thoroughly tested by the adversarial community of XRP. In order to increase the quality of review of the amendment, Ripple worked with the Web3 security firm, Sherlock. They aimed to allow independent security researchers to review the new functionalities before activation. Five major topics were reviewed, including Batch Transactions, Permission Delegation, MPT DEX, Confidential Transfers for MPT, and Sponsored Fees and Reserves. All of the above features influence transaction processing, permission delegation, decentralized exchange, token confidentiality, fee sponsorship, and reserves, respectively. Within the two weeks of testing, two critical, six high, twenty-nine medium, and fifty-nine low-severity issues. Ripple rewarded 309,000 RLUSD to all the users who made valid contributions to security reports in all feature categories. XRP community awaits XRPL 3.3.0 release. Following the launch of XRP Ledger version 3.2.1 on August 1, which acted as a fix after a manifest flood problem was discovered on July 31. Now that all tests have been conducted, it will be time to focus on XRP Ledger 3.3.0, as it is anticipated that it will implement the new amendments once they have passed through the rest of the approval process.

Ripple President Monica Long says the switch just flipped - XRP Ledger is ready for prime time.

Ripple President Monica Long says the switch just flipped - XRP Ledger is ready for prime time. Ripple says bank pilots are over as XRP Ledger expands into institutional capital markets through strategic ZILO and Liquido investments. 4 August 2026, 08:28 AM Ripple says bank blockchain pilots are over as XRP Ledger powers real capital markets. Ripple believes the era of blockchain experimentation has given way to real-world adoption. According to Ripple President Monica Long, financial institutions are no longer confined to proof-of-concept trials, they are actively deploying tokenized assets across production-grade capital markets. Following Ripple's strategic investments in ZILO and Liquido, Long said on X that "the light switch just flipped" from bank pilots to live deployment, signaling a major shift in institutional adoption. She argued that tokenization has moved beyond a promising innovation to becoming core financial infrastructure. "In the last year, we've seen the veritable light switch flip - from bank pilots to production, from issuing tokenized assets like money market funds and liquidity funds to using them. Institutional capital markets are moving in one direction - onchain 24/7." Her comments accompanied Ripple's investments in ZILO and Liquido, two firms building key institutional infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). As a result, the investments deepen Ripple's push to position XRPL as the foundation for next-generation capital markets. Ripple builds the missing infrastructure for institutional tokenized finance. Ripple's strategy extends well beyond tokenizing assets. The company is building the infrastructure institutions need to issue, manage, move, and settle digital financial products at scale. ZILO provides regulated issuance technology that enables banks, asset managers, and financial institutions to tokenize products such as money market funds, bonds, and other investment vehicles while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements. Liquido complements that offering by solving collateral mobility, allowing tokenized assets to move seamlessly across financial networks. Its technology enables institutions to pledge digital assets as collateral, transfer them efficiently between counterparties, accelerate settlement, and unlock liquidity with far fewer frictions than traditional market infrastructure. For Long, the real breakthrough is not the ability to tokenize assets, but the fact that institutions are now putting those assets to work. Tokenized funds are increasingly being used for trading, collateral management, liquidity optimization, and settlement, clear signs that blockchain is becoming embedded in mainstream finance. Ripple believes this momentum will drive the transition to always-on capital markets, where assets can be issued, traded, and settled 24/7 rather than being limited by banking hours or legacy systems. Powered by the XRP Ledger, institutions can benefit from near-instant settlement, lower operating costs, and continuous market access. The investments in ZILO and Liquido therefore represent more than strategic venture funding. They strengthen Ripple's vision of building a complete institutional digital asset ecosystem spanning regulated issuance, collateral management, liquidity, settlement, and redemption, positioning the XRP Ledger as the backbone of the next generation of global capital markets. Ripple invests in UK firms ZILO and Licuido to boost tokenisation on XRP Ledger

Ripple has invested in UK fintech firms ZILO and Licuido to integrate regulated fund record-keeping and collateral trading onto the XRP Ledger. The investment amounts and stake sizes were not disclosed. ZILO, founded in 2020, provides digital transfer agency software for asset managers and custodians. The company raised $33.7 million in a 2024 Series A and $26.2 million in a Series A2, with State Street among its clients. Licuido operates a tokenisation platform handling issuance and trading, enabling tokens to act as collateral through onchain settlement. The firm supplied technology for Aviva Investors' tokenised share class, which launched on XRP Ledger on 29 July. Ripple will use its RLUSD stablecoin for settlement on these trades. The company previously helped tokenise abrdn's $5.1 billion money market fund in November 2024.
