Requirements
  • Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Complete the patient transport safety training program within 30 days of hire for Level I.
  • For Level II, complete the patient transport safety training program and have two years of experience as a Clinical Tech Assistant I.
  • Hold BLS certification.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Be able to perform the heavy lifting required to move and transport patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • For Level II, have patient transport safety training and the ability to perform complex tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with moving patients to and from radiographic tables.
  • Clean assigned work areas and equipment; stock radiographic rooms with supplies and clean linen; and dispose of soiled laundry.
  • Transport patients, with or without oxygen, to and from hospital locations.
  • Pick up and deliver specimens, equipment, supplies, and messages as directed.
  • Assist technologists with imaging procedures, including dressing, undressing, and positioning patients.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and check on patients according to department procedures.
  • Assist technologists with procedures and move and set up radiographic equipment in non-sterile settings.
  • Provide general patient care according to departmental procedures, address patients’ emotional and physical needs, respond promptly to requests, and provide courteous, clear, and accurate information to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Compile, record, maintain, and file information for accurate patient and departmental records and reports; maintain ticket-to-ride documentation and travel logs.
  • Initiate calls and contact appropriate personnel to obtain or provide emergency services when a critical situation requires immediate attention.
  • Monitor patients’ medical status in Radiology.
  • For Level II, set up and clean imaging rooms.
  • For Level II, set up instruments and equipment for specific procedures.
  • For Level II, enter patient data on radiographic studies into the computer.
  • For Level II, assist technical staff with patient preparation for interventional procedures.
  • For Level II, schedule patients for procedures as requested.
  • For Level II, assist technologists with procedures, including moving and setting up radiographic equipment in sterile settings, setting up sterile trays, and cleaning non-disposable equipment with appropriate solutions.
  • For Level II, label and wrap instruments for sterilization.
  • For Level II, assist technologists with image processing.
  • For Level II, charge procedures as directed.
  • For Level II, assist radiographic staff with studies by entering patient data into the computer, moving equipment, recording patient information on appropriate images, and coordinating activities with others.
  • For Level II, monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and organize stock to maintain it properly and avoid expiration-related loss.
  • For Level II, set up special procedure trays and equipment using sterile techniques or techniques appropriate to the setting, and assist medical and technical staff with patient preparation.
  • For Level II, process images and copy film as requested.
  • For Level II, clean instruments and equipment as required.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, or prior experience in customer service or healthcare.
