Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year of clinical experience or graduation from a Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification, or certification obtained within 60 days of hire, is required through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • The role requires prolonged sitting, standing, and walking; continual finger use for patient care, writing, and computer entry; routine upper-extremity use; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional pushing of supply carts up to 30 pounds and wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds; and the ability to stoop, bend, reach above shoulder level, hear normal conversation, and maintain good general, near, and peripheral vision.
Responsibilities
  • Before patient arrival, prepare operatories for procedures, including sterile or clean mayo stands with sharps, instruments, medications, and solutions.
  • Review and update the patient's medical history upon arrival at the MOHS suite.
  • Scrub, gown, and glove self and MOHS team members before procedures.
  • Attend to patients during procedures and anticipate the needs of the procedural team and patients.
  • Maintain sterile or clean technique during procedures, handle sharps and medications according to safety protocols, demonstrate universal precautions and infection control, and handle specimens safely.
  • Stock, clean, and disinfect rooms and the unit after each patient and procedure; discard disposables and regulated waste according to state and local procedures; and pre-clean instruments before sterilization.
  • Communicate with providers, patients, and team members while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist the registered nurse and provider with MOHS schedules, pre- and post-operative phone calls, and communications within and outside the network.
  • Participate in maintaining or improving MOHS quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties assigned to support department and organizational priorities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred.
