Requirements
  • Two years of relevant accounting experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Successful completion of the contract-required background check and drug test.
  • Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to communicate and present information to students, management, line staff, corporate and Department of Labor personnel, and public groups.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and manage data.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments.
  • Ability to complete departmental work accurately and on time.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people professionally and courteously in diverse situations.
  • Ability to comply with established company safety policies and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to comply with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to regularly walk, climb stairs, and visually observe the Center environment.
  • Ability to run and respond rapidly to physical altercations or other emergencies for the safety of students, Center staff, and property.
  • Ability to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform the required close-vision and focus-adjustment tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, maintain, and reconcile petty cash.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and reconcile student pay.
  • Assist students and answer questions regarding student pay.
  • Reconcile the Student Pay Allotment Management Information System bank account and prepare reimbursements to Chugach.
  • Track the Student Government Fund in Student Government's accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly Student Government bank account reconciliations for submission to the Department of Labor Data Center.
  • Collect employee expense reports, review them for accuracy, and batch them to the Corporate Office.
  • Reconcile and code credit card transactions weekly using the online commercial card program.
  • Assist with preparing data input for financial statements and management information reports, including monthly accounting journal entries.
  • Provide accounting clerical and administrative support to the finance department.
  • Provide information as requested to the Corporate Job Corps Finance Team.
  • Assist in preparing budget-to-actual reports for Center staff.
  • Coordinate with other Center staff concerning accounting matters.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property and adhere to safety practices.
  • Maintain a Center climate free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect for staff and students.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards by modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition, and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Complete all mandated training requirements under government and management directives.
  • Perform duties in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with property and purchasing controls with a government contractor.
