  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Three years of required Registered Nurse case management experience.
  • A current Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
  • Knowledge of appropriate and timely return transition levels of care.
  • Knowledge of CARF, regulatory agencies, State Board of Health, long-term care, acute care, and ambulatory care standards.
  • Ability to assess and interpret patient-status data to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care across infant, child, adolescent, young adult, middle adult, and geriatric patient populations.
  • Ability to independently perform comprehensive chart reviews and abstract relevant information, including interpretation of laboratory results, electrocardiograms, and other medical tests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to address customer concerns privately, respectfully, and calmly.
  • Knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining the security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational, and other medical information, including compliance with HIPAA and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate medical necessity for admission, continued stay, and the appropriate level of care through chart review.
  • Monitor assigned patients' care to ensure quality, cost-effective resource utilization, and optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate each patient's plan of care from admission through discharge or transfer to another level of care.
  • Apply third-party payer regulations governing admissions, continued stay, and discharge to individual cases through chart review.
  • Collect data related to clinical improvement initiatives to support development of action plans.
  • Conduct concurrent chart reviews to ensure complete and accurate medical-record documentation.
  • Coordinate patients' plans of care with the healthcare team, including patients, caregivers, family members, and case management.
  • Assess and document patients' conditions.
  • Interview and assess patients to identify potential barriers to timely discharge or transfer to another level of care.
  • Provide payers with accurate and current information.
  • Obtain covered-stay certification and prior authorization when appropriate.
  • Refer cases to the physician advisor when appropriate for medical necessity, continued stay, physician education, and level-of-care decisions.
  • Refer cases to Social Services when appropriate.
  • Ensure discharge planning to the appropriate level of care, including subacute care, hospital units, and outpatient services.
  • Support hospital continuous quality improvement programs by participating on relevant teams.

September 2, 2026 The Methodist Hospitals Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Suchita Shah and Sarah Pomponi to its Board of Directors. Shah and Pomponi join the Foundation at a time of continued growth as it works to expand philanthropic support for Methodist Hospitals programs, services and initiatives that improve the health and well-being of patients, families and communities throughout Northwest Indiana. "Suchita and Sarah bring valuable experience, strong community relationships and a shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of Northwest Indiana," said Matt Doyle, President and CEO of Methodist Hospitals. Suchita Shah has been a licensed real estate broker with McColly Real Estate since 1996. Prior to her career in real estate, she practiced as a dentist, providing her with a unique perspective that combines healthcare knowledge, business expertise, and a lifelong commitment to serving others. A respected community leader, Suchita has dedicated decades to advancing healthcare and community initiatives throughout Northwest Indiana through volunteer leadership and philanthropy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Indian American Cultural Center, where she leads fundraising efforts in support of its mission and programs. She previously served on the boards of the American Heart Association and the Lake County Medical Auxiliary, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community. Her experience in healthcare, business, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership has equipped her to build meaningful relationships, strengthen philanthropic partnerships, and advance the Methodist Hospitals Foundation's mission throughout Northwest Indiana. Methodist Hospitals foundation appoints new executive director. Methodist Hospitals is pleased to announce the appointment of James R. (Jamie) Mack as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Mack brings nearly three decades of leadership in healthcare finance as well as a deep understanding of Methodist Hospitals and the community it serves. Mack joins Methodist from St. Anthony Hospital in Chicago, where he had served as Vice President of Finance since 2016. His extensive financial experience includes senior leadership positions at Sinai Health Systems in Chicago, Pinnacle Hospital in Crown Point and other health care organizations in Illinois and Northwest Indiana. He is an expert in accounting, reimbursement, charge structure, pricing models and pricing strategies in both for-profit and non-profit organizations as well as strategic and reputation development. He is a returning member of Methodist family, having served as Methodist Controller from 1987 to 2006. A native of Northwest Indiana, Jamie also has a deep understanding of The Region and of the communities that Methodist Hospitals serves.
