Requirements
  • A BA or BS degree in an agricultural, management, business, economics, real estate, or accounting major, or equivalent education.
  • A Certified General Appraiser License with continuing education compliance as established by the Appraisal Foundation and approved by the appropriate state appraisal boards.
  • More than three years of real estate appraisal experience.
  • Moderate travel in performance of the job.
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels, exercise initiative, convey ideas clearly, and make sound appraisal and business decisions.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with all levels of management and work harmoniously with employees throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate highly accurate work.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency using a personal computer, email, word processing, electronic spreadsheets, and appraisal-related software.
  • Ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting, including prolonged sitting and computer use.
  • Ability to talk and hear, sit and use hands and fingers, and reach in all directions.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a four-wheel-drive vehicle to inspect rural properties.
  • Ability to walk one-half mile, navigate steep terrain or construction sites, and safely cross fences during inspections.
  • Ability to work during established business hours, with occasional weekend or evening work as required.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including climbing, crawling, crouching, digging, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking, writing, measuring, observing, and driving.
  • A valid Class C driver's license.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare real estate appraisals on selected properties, including increasingly complex assignments that may involve pledged collateral for large or complex loans.
  • Assist senior staff in developing real estate appraisals for large, complex valuations and complete appraisals under delegated authority or senior staff supervision.
  • Collect sales information from county websites, multiple listing service websites, realtor websites, and other sources.
  • Maintain relationships with realtors and other sources to obtain and verify sales documentation and market data.
  • Prepare appraisals for outside fee customers when needed.
  • Provide written and verbal information about appraisal programs and projects to Association staff and others.
  • Work effectively with customers and Association employees and respond independently to requests for information and assistance.
  • Apply approved appraisal techniques and analyze complex agricultural operations.
  • Complete appraisals outside the region as directed.
  • Initiate written and telephone communications to obtain information and related documents.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working toward a professional appraisal designation from a national appraisal society recognized by the Appraisal Foundation, with ARA or MAI preferred.
