About the company

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is still surging: data center sales rose 117% to $89 billion in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • Stock grants are worth more: shares hit a record in October 2026, up 28% for the year.
  • Engineering dominates hiring: 1,722 of NVIDIA's 2,686 job listings in October 2026 were in engineering.

What critics are saying

  • Big buyers are hedging: Meta's February 2026 agreement covers 6 gigawatts of AMD chips.
  • Financing its buyers is getting harder: lenders pushed back on NVIDIA's $500 billion chip-backed loan plan in October 2026.
  • Staff described long hours: Bloomberg's August 2024 interviews reported seven-day weeks, late nights and shouting matches.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Rivals must match its software too: over 7.5 million developers use CUDA and other NVIDIA tools to program its chips.
  • The CEO has a broad direct staff: Jensen Huang says over 60 people report to him, without one-on-ones.
  • People rarely leave: NVIDIA's yearly staff turnover is 3.7%, versus a 21.9% average across the tech industry.

NVIDIA takes stake in Riverlane as GPUs cut quantum decoder calibration from 3 minutes to 2.8 seconds

NVIDIA has taken a minority stake in Riverlane, a Cambridge-based quantum error correction (QEC) startup. The investment was announced alongside stakes in four UK artificial intelligence ventures, and forms part of NVIDIA's $250 million UK computing commitment. The companies also revealed expanded technical collaboration. Using NVIDIA H100 GPUs, they cut a surface code training cycle from three minutes on a single CPU core to 2.8 seconds. The H100 processed more than 4 million error syndromes per second, against about 59,000 on a CPU. This allows routine decoder recalibration before experiments, offsetting qubit drift and hardware defects that degrade logical qubit fidelity. Riverlane's AI-driven calibration loop updates the decoder's noise model in real time, without manual tuning.

Nvidia and HubSpot lead cash-rich picks, while Crocs underwhelms

StockStory, a stock research platform, has picked two cash-producing stocks to watch, HubSpot and Nvidia, and one to sell, Crocs. Strong cash flow does not always mean strong returns, it says, as some cash-rich firms spend poorly or lose demand. Crocs (NASDAQ:CROX) has a trailing 12-month free cash flow margin of 17.4%. StockStory cites weak constant currency revenue over two years, a low operating margin, and falling returns on capital. The stock trades at $117.80, or 8.3x forward P/E. HubSpot (NYSE:HUBS) has a 19.4% margin. Revenue grew 20% annually over two years, and gross margin is 83.2%. It trades at $248.15, or 3.2x forward price-to-sales. Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) has a 41.9% margin. Revenue grew 77.4% annually over two years. It trades at $219.26, or 17.9x forward P/E.

Nvidia shares fall 3.8% as DSX POD design aims to cut AI deployment from six months to 14 days

Nvidia unveiled DSX POD, a modular AI-factory design built around its Vera Rubin systems. Its shares traded at $213.51, down 3.81%, at 10:50 EDT. The design moves assembly and testing into factories before containers reach customers. Nvidia says installation at a prepared site could shrink from six months to as little as 14 days. Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Schneider Electric, and Vertiv are among partners targeting worldwide deliveries in early 2027. The site must first have power, cooling, networking, and supporting infrastructure ready. Shorter deployment could help customers earn revenue sooner. Investors still want proof that the promised speed works in live deployments.

Chinese tech giants order $35B of Nvidia chips, but supply covers only a fraction

Chinese tech giants ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have ordered more than 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards, with a combined list-price value above $35 billion, Reuters reported. Total Chinese orders exceed 6 million cards. Nvidia expects to produce only 3 million of the cards in 2027, so some customers may receive just 5%–10% of their requests. Samples are due in December, with larger shipments starting in early 2027. US export rules bar sales of the B300 to Chinese customers, and H200 shipments need individual government approval. Chinese firms are turning to a lower-tier product instead. The $35 billion is not a sales forecast. Nvidia's guidance of roughly $108 billion in revenue for its fiscal third quarter excludes China data centre computing income.

Nvidia, Broadcom, TSMC, Micron: AI stocks to buy in 2027 as Broadcom targets $115B AI revenue

AI stocks are sliding after a hot inflation report raised the prospect of an interest rate rise. One Motley Fool columnist argues the sell-off is short-sighted and names four stocks to buy for 2027: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), Micron Technology, Nvidia, and Broadcom. Nvidia expects 70% revenue growth next year. Broadcom expects AI semiconductor revenue to rise to $115 billion, up from about $65 billion this year. TSMC, which makes chips for nearly all big tech firms, reported fast third-quarter revenue growth. Micron expects memory chip shortages to worsen in 2027 and 2028, even as new capacity arrives in mid-2027. Its stock trades at 5 times this fiscal year's earnings.
