Requirements
  • At least five years of industrial maintenance work experience, or successful completion of a two-year college curriculum in technical areas and/or vocational certificates of completion in electrical or mechanical technical areas.
  • Proficiency in maintaining, troubleshooting, analyzing, and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, power transmission, electrical, and control systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and servo motors.
  • Experience using RSLogix Studio 5000 is required.
  • Basic knowledge of direct-current and alternating-current circuits and the ability to read schematics.
  • Ability to locate inputs and outputs on a programmable logic controller from schematics, use a multimeter, perform address and rung searches, and follow ladder logic for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and update piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Experience connecting a programmable logic controller to a computer using RSLinx, creating tags and inputs/outputs, and programming ladder routines involving bits, timers, and counters.
  • Understanding of ControlLogix or CompactLogix systems.
  • Ability to wire a three-phase motor and properly terminate wiring.
  • Ability to replace or adjust photo eyes, relays, motor starters, disconnects, and motors.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rigging equipment, man-lifts, and shop equipment including mills, lathes, band saws, and presses.
  • Understanding of shaft alignment techniques and tools, mechanical drive systems, lubrication, and various pump types.
  • Pipe fitting, fabrication, assembly, machining, basic stick welding, torch cutting, pipe threading, and equipment repair skills.
  • Ability to repair defective machinery using drawings, manuals, and sample parts.
  • Ability to identify and install bearings, seals, belts, chains, and other components of automated packaging equipment.
  • Ability to understand and evaluate equipment operation and detect or anticipate malfunctions.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and related business computer programs.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to stakeholders at all levels and deal professionally with people during equipment breakdowns.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and maintain dependable work habits.
  • Ability to follow plant safety rules and company policies.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, analyze, and repair equipment to prevent, resolve, and eliminate process failures and equipment breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot motor and motor control problems involving variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and servo motors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and execute work orders.
  • Maintain stock of critical spare parts and identify spare parts for equipment.
  • Learn and perform mechanical work as needed.
  • Clean the work area after each job and maintain the workstation.
  • Use SAP, Microsoft Suite, Internet, Process Book, FactoryTalk, and related computer software to create and edit work orders, look up parts, research equipment, track time, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Read and update technical manuals, drawings, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Turn down shafts using a lathe, cut keyways using a milling machine, broach sprockets, cut metal using a torch, perform basic stick welding, and thread pipe using hand and powered pipe threaders.
  • Replace or adjust electrical devices and wire three-phase motors.
  • Locate programmable logic controller inputs and outputs, create tags and inputs/outputs, program ladder routines, and troubleshoot using ladder logic.
