- Assist passengers on and off the vehicle safely and courteously, and handle medical equipment and other emergencies that may arise.
- Participate in participant care planning and contribute notations to the medical record.
- Transport people on hospital grounds, between the hospital and patient homes, and between the hospital and patient appointments.

Two 1,260 square-foot homes to be built through INHP's second Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority award INDIANAPOLIS (June 30, 2026) - The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP), is today breaking ground on two new affordable homes in Beech Grove, Ind. made possible with support from the City of Beech Grove, Franciscan Health and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA). The project marks the first time INHP is developing affordable homes inside Beech Grove city limits and the first single-family homes in the city to be funded through IHCDA. INHP acquired land for the homes from Franciscan Health at its former Beech Grove hospital site, which closed in 2012. The project is made possible by INHP's second successful application to IHCDA's HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). INHP received its first HOME award for developing an affordable home in the City of Southport, completed in late 2025. "These new INHP-developed homes will transform an unused lot into beautiful, affordable homeownership opportunities for our residents," said Beech Grove Mayor James W. Coffman. "The City of Beech Grove is proud to welcome new, high-quality homeownership opportunities like these as part of our commitment to affordable and sustainable growth." "The former Beech Grove hospital area holds a lot of history in its community. Franciscan Health is honored to have part of our community's history carry on in the form of inviting, affordable places for residents to live," said Lori Price, President and CEO, Franciscan Health Indianapolis. Steven R. Keller Construction will build the two 1,260-square-foot, one-story homes, each featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Developing the homes will cost over $300,000 each, using subsidies to help create affordable sales prices for income-eligible buyers. "IHCDA is proud to support this partnership between INHP and the City of Beech Grove, and expand homeownership opportunities in central Indiana," said Andrea Lynch, director of HOME and HTF programs at IHCDA. "Affordable housing is critical to our state's infrastructure and essential to community growth. We look forward to welcoming two first-time homebuyers to their new Beech Grove homes." "After nine years in home development, INHP is excited to expand our affordable housing opportunities to Beech Grove. We're grateful to Mayor Coffman and Franciscan Health for the opportunity to develop these new homes, and to IHCDA for the support that makes it possible," said Gina Miller, president and CEO of INHP. The homes are slated to be ready for sale in 2027 and will be available to buyers earning up to 80% of the area median income. For example, that could include a family of two earning a combined income of up to $70,600, or a family of four earning up to $88,250. INHP will list both homes for sale on its website at INHP.org/homes-for-sale and offer them first to INHP clients. CROWN POINT, Ind. - Franciscan Health Trauma Services Department Injury Prevention Coordinator Marissa Adcock was recently recognized for her role in helping keep kids safe. Marissa Adcock, injury prevention coordinator for Franciscan Health's Trauma Services Department, received the Child Safety Advocacy Award from the Safe Kids Indiana Automotive Safety Program at their annual event in Indianapolis. Adcock serves as co-leader for Safe Kids Northwest Indiana. This annual award recognizes individuals who demonstrate extraordinary efforts in preventing injury and death among Indiana children. Adcock manages child safety seat inspection events and training across Northern Indiana, aimed at helping parents ensure their car seats are properly installed and that their children are safe at all times while traveling. She expanded Franciscan's child seat safety station from Crown Point to locations in Starke/Pulaski, LaPorte, Porter and Elkhart counties and supports child seat passenger training events in Michigan City and Hammond and with community partners. "I am so honored to receive such an award as this," Adcock said. "I have been blessed to work alongside amazing partners who share my passion for keeping kids safe. The award is named in honor of Dr. Marilyn J. Bull and Dr. Joseph O'Neil, two visionary leaders in pediatric care and injury prevention. It recognizes individuals whose work reflects a legacy of innovation and collaboration. Tansey has been a steadfast advocate for child passenger safety in the Greater Lafayette community for many years. She has dedication, compassion, and a lifelong commitment to protecting children that reflects the very spirit of the award. Since 1991, she has dedicated herself to ensuring that families have the knowledge, support, and resources needed to keep their children safe. Tansey's leadership has strengthened programs, elevated best practices, and created a culture of safety that continues to benefit families across Indiana. Through her work at Franciscan Health, Tansey has played a pivotal role in thousands of car seat inspections and safety checks. Even in 2024, while recovering from double knee replacement surgery, she organized and participated in 205 inspections, demonstrating a level of perseverance and devotion that is nothing short of extraordinary. Tansey's impact extends far beyond the inspection station. She leads both the car seat safety program and the Safe Kids Greater Lafayette coalition, expanding access to education, resources, and no cost car seats for families in need. Her partnerships with fire departments, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations have built a strong, collaborative network dedicated to protecting children. As a child passenger safety technician (CPST) instructor, she has become a trusted mentor to new technicians, student nurses, and emerging leaders. Her calm, compassionate teaching style empowers others and ensures that every family receives individualized, accurate, and judgment free guidance. In 2024, Tansey transitioned into a full-time community health specialist role at Franciscan, an acknowledgment of the decades she spent going above and beyond her job description to serve families.
