Cape Girardeau Ameren lineworkers to compete in international competition.

Cape Girardeau Ameren lineworkers to compete in international competition. FOX23 News at 9 p.m. 4 hours ago CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) - Ameren lineworkers from Missouri and Illinois are preparing to compete against utility workers from around the world at the 42nd International Lineman's Rodeo in Overland Park, Kansas. The competition, scheduled for Oct. 14-17, brings together lineworkers and apprentices to demonstrate their technical skills, teamwork and safety practices. Ameren Missouri will send four journeyman teams, 10 apprentices and nine competition officials and committee members. Among those competing are three lineworkers from Ameren's Cape Girardeau Operating Center: Kolter McBride, Brendan Wilkens and Joshua Jones. Ameren Illinois will send five journeyman teams, four apprentices and six competition officials and committee members. Participants include workers from Belleville, Marion, Centralia, Decatur and other operating centers across the state. The competition, often called the "Lineman Olympics," features events designed to simulate real-world situations utility workers face on the job. Events include the Hurtman Rescue, which tests a worker's ability to rescue an injured colleague from a utility pole, and the Pole Climb, a timed event that evaluates climbing techniques and safety procedures. Competitors will also participate in two mystery events that simulate unexpected situations in the field. Apprentices must complete a written examination in addition to the hands-on challenges. Participants are evaluated on safety, job knowledge, work practices and overall performance. "The work our lineworkers and apprentices perform is essential to delivering safe and reliable energy to our customers," said Landy Wince, senior director of division operations at Ameren Missouri. "This event highlights the professionalism, training and dedication that define their craft and allows them to showcase those skills on an international stage." Jason Klein, vice president of electric operations at Ameren Illinois, said the competition also gives workers an opportunity to learn from others in the industry. "The Lineman's Rodeo is a chance for our lineworkers and apprentices to showcase the skills they use every day to keep the lights on for our customers," Klein said. The event also allows families to see firsthand the skills and safety practices lineworkers use in their daily work.

Arevon secures three 20-year Renewable Energy Credit contracts for its 200 megawatt Panther Energy Project in Illinois.

Arevon secures three 20-year Renewable Energy Credit contracts for its 200 megawatt Panther Energy Project in Illinois. Oct 13, 2026, 08:00 ET Agreements with Ameren Illinois, ComEd, and MidAmerican advance the Perry County solar project and the state's energy goals PERRY COUNTY, Ill. and SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 13, 2026/PRNewswire/ - Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading American energy developer, owner, and operator, today announced it has executed three 20-year Indexed Renewable Energy Credit (REC) contracts with Ameren Illinois Company (Ameren Illinois), Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd), and MidAmerican Energy Company (MidAmerican) for its 200 megawatt (MWac)/275 megawatt (MWdc) Panther Energy Project in Perry County, Illinois. The Panther Energy Project is anticipated to begin construction in 2027 and reach completion in 2028, creating an estimated 200 construction jobs. The project is expected to contribute an estimated $20 million in property tax payments over its operating life, benefiting area schools, infrastructure, and other public services while driving additional economic activity. Arevon has established a local office in Pinckneyville, providing landowners, residents, and other community members with direct access to the Panther project team during development and upcoming construction. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than 37,000 Illinois homes. The long-term commercial agreements follow Panther Energy's selection in the Illinois Power Agency's (IPA) Summer 2026 Indexed REC procurement, which was approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC). Under the IPA's procurement methodology, Panther Energy was selected to deliver 421,131 RECs in the first year, which will be allocated among Ameren Illinois, ComEd, and MidAmerican through separate long-term contracts with each utility. The Indexed REC structure provides long-term revenue certainty that supports the development and financing of new renewable energy projects. The RECs acquired by the utilities will help meet their obligations under the Illinois Renewable Portfolio Standard. The Summer 2026 procurement was conducted pursuant to Illinois's Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), which became law in 2021 and established the Indexed REC pricing structure for utility-scale renewable energy procurements. In total, the ICC approved contracts for 1.55 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity, including four utility-scale solar projects totaling 740 MWac, through the Summer 2026 procurement. "Arevon is proud to work with Ameren Illinois, ComEd, and MidAmerican through the IPA procurement to move Panther Energy closer to construction and contribute to Illinois's energy goals," said Tommy Greer, Chief Commercial Officer at Arevon. "We appreciate the collaboration of Perry County residents, landowners, and local officials throughout the project's development. We look forward to delivering reliable, homegrown energy to the grid while creating jobs, generating long-term economic benefits, and investing in the local community." Arevon is actively growing its portfolio in the Midwest region of the United States through the operations, construction, and continued development of energy facilities. Recent milestones in the Midwest include the start of operations at its 430 MWdc Kelso Solar Project in Missouri and Ratts 1 and Heirloom Solar Projects in Indiana, which have a cumulative capacity of 264 MWdc. Ratts 1 and Heirloom were awarded the 2025 Proximo North America Solar Deal of the Year. The company has also nearly completed construction on its 124 MWdc Big Muddy Solar Project in Jackson County, Illinois. In addition, Arevon developed and managed construction of the 251 MWdc Gibson Solar Project and the 228 MWdc Posey Solar Project in Indiana on behalf of local utilities. About Arevon Energy, Inc. Above: Ameren Transmission will provide 35 acres of upgraded, level ground for the NEMO Fair Association to use for additional parking, storage or other future needs. KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (Oct. 8, 2026) - Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) recently reached an agreement with the NEMO Fair Association to establish a laydown yard to store equipment and materials for Ameren's Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program. Once the transmission project is complete, the NEMO Fair Association will benefit from approximately 35 acres of upgraded, level ground that can be used for additional parking, storage or other future needs. "This partnership is a win-win for ATXI and the NEMO Fair," said Nick Rudis, project manager for Ameren. "Major infrastructure projects require space to safely store materials and equipment. By partnering with the NEMO Fair Association, we're able to strengthen the grid and support this region's future energy needs while also leaving behind improvements that can support the fairgrounds for years to come." Workers are leveling the land, adding rock and installing fencing as part of site improvements. Construction of the laydown yard is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and ATXI has signed a four-year lease agreement to use the land. "We're always on the lookout for opportunities that help us improve the fairgrounds and better serve the community," said Alan Whittom, president of the NEMO Fair Association's board of directors. "We look forward to using the additional space. It will give us flexibility to support activities and events long after the project is completed." After construction is finished, the laydown yard will hold supplies for the Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program. ATXI, Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) and Ameren Missouri are working together on this portfolio of new energy projects. The program includes more than 255 miles of new 345 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines developed in two phases across northern Missouri. Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance recognizes Sterling Solutions and Ameren with Transforming Supply Chain Award.

Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance recognizes Sterling Solutions and Ameren with Transforming Supply Chain Award. Proactive, collaborative site access planning on Ameren's LRTP Segment 14 transmission project delivers nearly $4 million in savings to date, with up to $20 million projected over the life of the program. PHOENIX, Ill., Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Sterling Site Access Solutions, America's leading manufacturer of sustainably-sourced, domestically produced Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) mats, panels and systems, today announced that the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (SSCA) has honored Sterling and utility partner Ameren with its Transforming Supply Chain Award. The award recognizes the companies' work together on Ameren's Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) Segment 14 project, a 345kV multi-segment transmission build in which proactive, collaborative site access planning reduced schedule risk, lowered cost and advanced sustainability across the project's supply chain. "We are honored and grateful to have been recognized by the SSCA with this award, but it truly is the result of the leadership and strategic approach Ameren took when planning for this project," said Kaye Ceille, CEO of Sterling Solutions. "We've always preached that sustainability and cost-effectiveness go hand in hand, and the results of this project are a shining example of that philosophy." Site access is typically an afterthought on major transmission projects. On LRTP Segment 14, Ameren took a different approach, bringing Sterling into the planning process more than a year before the first mat reached the site. That runway gave the teams time for factory tours, product testing and full alignment across supply chain, procurement and field construction before ground was broken. Ameren was able to source site access materials directly from Sterling as a capital expense rather than leaving it embedded in a prime contractor's scope, reducing risk for Ameren and its contractors alike. A central part of the solution was the introduction of a new product to the Ameren system: Sterling's TerraLam(R) 5-ply Cross Laminated Timber mats. Ameren purchased 5,000 TerraLam mats, manufactured at Sterling's Phoenix, Illinois facility and delivered on a just-in-time basis, to kick off the project. The mats will be used for the two-year construction phase and retain more than half of their useful life for deployment on future projects. The results to date include: * Nearly $4 million in savings realized already, with up to $20 million projected in full project impact * 5,000 TerraLam CLT mats delivered just-in-time, with 60% of product life remaining at the end of the project * 125 fewer truckloads of material moving through local communities, a 33% reduction in construction traffic and 38 metric tons of CO2 avoided * 52% (17) fewer construction crew days required for installation helping to mitigate labor shortages "We knew that we couldn't approach this project with the old playbook - too much has changed across the supply chain," said Frank Niemerg, Director, Transmission Construction Services at Ameren. "By working closely and early with all of our partners, including Sterling, we were able to avoid challenges we might have otherwise encountered deeper into the project. Instead, we delivered a project on time and on budget, all while minimizing the environmental impact." About Sterling Solutions Sterling is America's leading manufacturer of high-quality, cost-effective Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) mats, panels and systems. Our TerraLam(R) CLT products are sustainably-sourced and domestically produced at commercial-scale plants in Illinois and Texas. Our Site Access unit provides full-service matting and bridging solutions to utility, civil and commercial construction industries, including Site Access Planning, Environmental Compliance and consulting services. In some markets, we offer Right of Way Site Preparation and Restoration, Access Road & Pad Construction, and Staging & Laydown Yards. For more than 75 years, Sterling has innovated and delivered sustainable solutions meeting customer needs, creating jobs and economic opportunity across the supply chain, and reducing risk and environmental impact of industrial, commercial and residential construction projects.
