Equativ brings ChatGPT Ads to brands as advertising partner. Equativ becomes a technology partner of ChatGPT ads, bringing full-funnel contextual and native expertise to brands worldwide. NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Equativ, the leading independent end-to-end media platform, today announced it is now a technology partner of ChatGPT Ads, becoming one of a select group of partners to help brands and agencies advertise within ChatGPT. As a technology partner, Equativ offers ChatGPT Ads to engage users at every step of their customer journey, from discovery to purchase intent, with bespoke ad formats, layouts, and messaging tailored to each stage. ChatGPT has become one of the fastest-growing platforms in internet history, now reaching more than 1B weekly active users and processing 2.5 billion prompts per day, with 20% of conversations showing shopping intent. As consumers increasingly use ChatGPT over traditional search engines to discover, research, compare, and purchase products, the platform represents a significant and largely unexplored opportunity for brands to reach high-intent audiences at every stage of the consumer decision journey. Unlike traditional search engine marketing that relies on specific keywords, ChatGPT's sophisticated LLM understands the nuances of user intent and conversation context. That's also Equativ's clearest point of difference. While traditional campaigns are built around lower-funnel, keyword-style campaign management, Equativ delivers a comprehensive full-funnel strategy thanks to its contextual advertising expertise and years of honing native ad copy best practices. They used this expertise and lessons from live ChatGPT Ads campaigns to build a proprietary full-funnel tool called the Equativ Ad Studio, which helps recommend a customized targeting and creative strategy to allow advertisers to maximize the full-funnel of visibility, brand discovery, and purchase intent. This enables advertisers to engage audiences across every stage of brand discovery within ChatGPT with the optimal targeting and ad copy. The result is advertising that respects the ChatGPT user experience and ad principles while still driving measurable outcomes for brands at every touchpoint. "This transition represents a natural step forward for Equativ. Our strategy has always centered on consumer-centric solutions, and building on over a decade of native advertising and contextual technology, we are uniquely positioned to help brands show up meaningfully within ChatGPT conversations while preserving the user experience that makes the platform so valuable," said Ben Skinazi, Chief Commercial Officer, Equativ. Our partnership covers the markets where ChatGPT is currently available, including Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with additional countries launching on an ongoing basis. OpenAI projects $856 billion in compute spending through 2030 as its revenue race sharpens. By Devin Cole OpenAI has told investors it expects to spend roughly $856 billion on computing power by 2030, a number so large it reframes every other question hanging over the company. The figure isn't a wish list. It's the cost of running and training the models OpenAI plans to ship over the next four years, and it lands the same week the company is leaning harder than ever into the two things that have to pay for it: advertising and enterprise scale. Put plainly, OpenAI is committing to buy an amount of compute that dwarfs its current revenue, on the bet that demand and pricing will grow into the bill. That's the whole story behind the headline. Everything else OpenAI is doing right now - selling ads inside ChatGPT, courting regulators, defending its lead against faster-moving rivals - is in service of closing the gap between what it spends and what it earns. $856 billion buys chips, and someone has to sell them. Spending on this scale is first and foremost a hardware story. Money at that magnitude flows to the companies that make and assemble AI accelerators, the memory that feeds them, and the data-center capacity that houses them. OpenAI itself is private - there's no ticker to trade on this forecast, and a projection of future spending is not the same as a signed order - but the suppliers underwriting a buildout like this are very much public. WalletInvestor's model tracks Nvidia's forecast as the clearest listed proxy for exactly this kind of committed AI capex, since the chips at the center of the frontier-model race still run largely through one vendor. The catch is that a spending target is a promise, not a purchase. OpenAI has laid out where the money would go; whether it materializes depends on the company hitting revenue goals that are, by any measure, steep. That's the sustainability question analysts keep circling: $856 billion in outflows only works if the inflows arrive on schedule. ChatGPT becomes an ad business. Which is why the advertising push matters more than it might look. Equativ, an independent media platform, said this week it has become a technology partner for ChatGPT ads, bringing contextual and native ad tools to brands that want to place messaging inside OpenAI's chatbot. The partnership is a concrete step in turning ChatGPT from a subscription product into an ad-supported one, opening a revenue line that scales with the hundreds of millions of people already using the assistant. That shift carries its own trade-offs. An ad model changes the incentives around what a chatbot surfaces and how, and it invites the same scrutiny that has followed every large ad platform. But for a company staring down a compute bill measured in the hundreds of billions, advertising is one of the few revenue sources that can plausibly grow fast enough to matter. Grok 4.7 undercuts GPT on legal work. The competitive pressure is real and getting sharper. On the Harvey legal agent benchmark - a test of how well a model handles agentic legal tasks - xAI's Grok 4.7 scored 19.6%, ahead of both Anthropic's Fable 5.1 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol, according to Cryptopolitan. Grok did it at $2 per million input tokens, undercutting rivals on price as well as score. A single benchmark isn't proof of a durable edge, and results on one test rarely translate cleanly to real-world reliability. But the direction of travel is what OpenAI has to watch: rivals matching or beating its models on specific professional tasks, at lower cost. When the differentiation narrows, pricing power narrows with it - and pricing power is precisely what has to fund that $856 billion. Altman heads to the UN Security Council. Alongside the commercial push, OpenAI is spending political capital. Sam Altman is set to brief the UN Security Council on AI risks, part of a broader campaign for coordinated global governance of the technology. Separately, OpenAI has urged Washington to take the lead on a worldwide AI-safety standards effort, a position the company has repeated as regulators in multiple jurisdictions weigh how to police frontier systems. There's a strategic logic here beyond public safety. A company that helps write the rules tends to end up with rules it can live with, and OpenAI's scale gives it a seat at tables smaller labs can't reach. Shaping the framework early is cheaper than adapting to someone else's framework later. An unverified claim about agents "escaping containment" One report deserves a skeptical read. Crypto Briefing reported that OpenAI reallocated about a quarter of its engineering staff to security after AI agents "escaped containment." That's an extraordinary claim, and it's single-sourced here without independent confirmation or detail on what "escaped containment" actually means in practice - which could describe anything from a sandbox permissions failure to a far more mundane bug. Treat it as unconfirmed until OpenAI or a second outlet substantiates it. A team reprioritizing toward security is unremarkable and common; agents breaking free of their controls would be a serious, verifiable event, and there's no verified detail supporting the dramatic framing. The hallucination claim and the IPO that isn't coming. The AI cycle keeps producing bold assertions that outrun the evidence. Diogo Almeida, who describes himself as a ChatGPT "co-creator," says his $40 million startup's model, Jev, has solved AI hallucination outright, per Protos. No model to date has eliminated hallucination, and a claim to have done so needs independent testing before it means anything. For now it's a marketing statement, not a measured result. As for the exit investors keep asking about: OpenAI has punted on going public, and Anthropic has stalled too, per Fortune's reporting on the private-AI pipeline. The near-term IPO getting attention isn't a lab at all but Oura, the smart-ring maker, which has grown net income from $1.6 million to $60.8 million. That contrast is its own kind of tell - the most profitable, IPO-ready name in the current wave is a hardware company you wear on your finger, while the frontier labs stay private and keep raising against valuations no public buyer can touch. For OpenAI, the arithmetic is unchanged by any of it. The $856 billion figure sets the target; the ad partnerships, the enterprise contracts, and the pricing it can defend against a cheaper Grok determine whether that number is a plan or a liability. The power of the right partner: how Refinery89 and Equativ are redefining publisher value. Discover how Refinery89 and Equativ help publishers maximize ad revenue with premium programmatic demand and smarter monetization. Patricia Simón. What you will be reading about. Let's be real. The programmatic landscape is overwhelming. With demand fragmentation, brand safety concerns, and the ecosystem changing due to the rise of AI and Supply Path Optimization (SPO) practices, publishers need more than just technology. They need partners who genuinely understand the value of high-quality inventory. And that is the foundation of its partnership with Equativ. For over five years, Refinery89 has worked side by side with Equativ to bring premium, performance-driven demand to its publisher network. It goes beyond a simple transaction. It's a collaboration based on shared values: transparency, quality, and continuous improvement. What's Equativ? Meet its 25-year-old ally in AdTech. With 25 years of experience shaping the programmatic advertising industry, Equativ is one of its long-standing demand partners, pushing the industry forward and helping Refinery89 bring high-quality demand and innovative technology to publishers across its network. What makes this partnership so special is Equativ's unique heritage and philosophy. Originally created by aufeminin.com to manage advertising across the publisher's websites before becoming an independent company in 2005, Equativ has grown with a deep understanding of both the supply and demand sides of the industry. That dual perspective complements its own approach, allowing Refinery89 to work together to deliver premium demand, smarter monetization, and greater value for publishers. How Equativ helps Refinery89 publishers increase ad revenue. Access to both direct and premium programmatic demand. Not all demand is created equal, and Refinery89 know it. Thanks to Equativ's marketplace and curation capabilities, publishers using Single Tag, its ad monetization technology, can access a unique pool of advertisers that goes well beyond the open marketplace, including direct agency relationships, curated private marketplace (PMP) deals, and competition from multiple DSPs, all through just one solution. The result is more competition for your inventory, access to higher-quality demand, and stronger long-term revenue potential. It's the difference between fishing in a pond and fishing in the sea. Data-Driven Optimization. One of the highlights of its partnership is the level of transparency that both its teams share. With full visibility into performance signals on both sides, its teams work together to analyze what's working, identify opportunities, and make data-driven optimizations in real time. The result for publishers? Its network doesn't just benefit from Equativ's demand, but it also benefits from continuously improving outcomes. Transparency and control. Unfortunately, the industry is at a point where transparency can still be limited, so Refinery89 always ensure Refinery89 work with partners who want to take a different stance. This commitment is reflected in Equativ's TAG certification. Every impression trades in a trusted, secure environment where Refinery89 enforce standards, not just promise them. For publishers, that translates into: * Greater advertiser confidence in your inventory * Access to higher-quality demand from trusted buyers * A safer trading environment that helps support sustainable revenue growth Where Refinery89 go from here. As the programmatic landscape continues to evolve and become trickier, Refinery89'll be on the front lines with you, helping you navigate change with technology, access demand that aligns with your goals, and refine your ad inventory to maximize its value. Together with Equativ, Refinery89'll continue to evolve its technology so you always have access to the best available demand, while ensuring you are never behind when it comes to evolving industry standards.
