Requirements
  • Completion of a Cardiovascular or Radiology Technology program.
  • No experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • ARRT-R Radiography certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
  • The employee must work at least 30% of full-time equivalent in a secondary modality to be eligible for a Multiple Modality job.
  • The employee must be able to work safely in a constant state of alertness.
  • The employee must meet the listed physical requirements, including constant standing and walking, frequent patient lifting and movement, and occasional lifting of objects weighing 25–50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, positioning patients, and cleaning, shaving, or numbing testing sites as appropriate.
  • Interpret, describe, and report test results; recognize recording errors and artifacts; and react appropriately.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and the laboratory area, ensure equipment is functioning properly, report potential problems or malfunctions, and lock or tag out equipment when appropriate.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patients during procedures, report abnormal activity, monitor protocols, and recommend updates or refinements when warranted.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Perform point-of-care testing according to policies and procedures when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with procedures to analyze, diagnose, and treat the cardiovascular system.
  • Perform specialized imaging procedures, including angiography, complex vascular and nonvascular procedures, and neurointerventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Assist the Radiologist or Physician Assistant.
