CloudBolt appoints Alexander Thomson CEO and Patricia Tantow CMO as company accelerates ai-era infrastructure strategy. New leadership to focus on helping enterprises and service providers govern, automate and optimize costs of cloud, Kubernetes and AI infrastructure. October 14, 2026 09:00 ET | Source: CloudBolt ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - CloudBolt Software, a recognized leader in cloud and AI infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Alexander Thomson as chief executive officer and Patricia Tantow as chief marketing officer. The appointments come as the company enters its next phase of growth amid rapidly increasing enterprise demand for visibility, governance and optimization across cloud, Kubernetes and AI infrastructure. Thomson succeeds Rod Squires, who has moved to CloudBolt's board. "I've worked with Alex at several Insight portfolio companies and have seen firsthand how he builds go-to-market organizations that deliver exceptional business value," said Thomas Krane, Managing Director at Insight Partners. "CloudBolt has spent the past year modernizing its cloud management platform for increasingly complex hybrid cloud and AI environments, integrating StormForge's Kubernetes and GPU optimization capabilities, and expanding the ways customers can manage and optimize their cloud environments. Both Alex and Patricia have the experience to build on that foundation and accelerate the company's growth. We are also grateful to Rod for his leadership and are pleased he'll stay close to the business as a board member." Thomson joins CloudBolt from PlexTrac, an AI-powered exposure management and pentest reporting platform. As chief operating officer, he oversaw global sales, marketing, customer success, strategy and business operations, and led the company through its 2026 acquisition by Brinqa. Before PlexTrac, he was vice president of sales at Quantum Metric, whose ARR grew from $25 million to $100 million during his tenure. Earlier, he held sales leadership roles at N2W Software, GFI Software and LogicNow, which was acquired by SolarWinds. "In nearly every customer conversation I've had since joining, AI is part of the infrastructure plan," said Thomson. "The teams responsible for it are asking the same questions they've always asked about cloud: What are we running, who controls it, and what is it costing us? CloudBolt has spent the past year building the foundation to enable teams to answer those questions across their environments. I'm eager to bring that value to more customers as organizations weigh AI investment against the return it delivers." Tantow also joins CloudBolt from PlexTrac, where she served as chief marketing officer through its acquisition by Brinqa and worked alongside Thomson. She was previously chief marketing officer at Instaclustr through its acquisition by NetApp in 2022, vice president of marketing at CIQ, and vice president of marketing at Expanse, which was later acquired by Palo Alto Networks. "Organizations are scaling AI faster than they can see what it's running or what it's costing them," said Tantow. "CloudBolt has the technology, the expertise and the conviction to cut through that complexity and eliminate the waste. I look forward to bringing that clarity to customers to help them run their AI workloads with confidence." CloudBolt also announced changes to its board of directors. Andrew Langsam, former CEO of PlexTrac, joins as non-executive chairman; Thomson and Squires join as directors. Thomas Krane and Michael Triplett of Insight Partners continue as directors. About CloudBolt CloudBolt Software helps enterprises and service providers turn cloud complexity into operational advantage by bringing intelligent automation, governance, and optimization to public, private, multi-cloud and AI infrastructure. SolarWinds unveils Avior, bringing deterministic, agentic AI to enterprise IT.

SolarWinds unveils Avior, bringing deterministic, agentic AI to enterprise IT. Goal-driven agents transform IT from a reactive function into an orchestrator of resilient, business-aligned operations. SolarWinds today announced the launch of Avior(TM), a standalone, goal-oriented agentic AI system purpose built for mission-critical IT environments. Built on the SolarWinds platform, Avior will help IT teams securely define goals, coordinate specialized agents, and track progress toward measurable outcomes across hybrid digital ecosystems. As technology infrastructure grows more complex and business-critical, variable outcomes can introduce unacceptable risk and costs that most IT organizations already quietly absorb in outage minutes, audit exposure, and senior engineering time. AI needs to deliver cost savings, downtime reduction, and overall operational resilience that a team can measure in environments where uptime, security, and overall IT operations are at stake. Avior is designed to take on first-line work, so teams can not only be more strategic, but also proactively address the needs of their growing digital estates. As a standalone application, it works across products and environments, diagnosing issues or actions from the perspective of an operator, and pursuing goals that span the estate with advanced root cause analysis. Enterprise AI Built for Trust and Control Operating within strict security guardrails, Avior features risk-tiered autonomy so that potentially dangerous actions always require explicit human approval. Anchored in AI by Design, the responsible-AI framework SolarWinds applies across its portfolio, Avior safeguards customer environments while keeping humans in the loop through granular audit trails, goal tracking, automated rollback support, data masking, and strict least-privilege tool access. Avior is also built on three core pillars to ensure the system delivers powerful outcomes within strict guardrails required in mission-critical environments: * Goal-Oriented: Operates within a control loop in pursuit of measurable goals * Transparent: Shows its reasoning in detailed, auditable language an operator can understand * Controlled: Enables fine-grained autonomy control at every level What Avior Can Do for the Enterprise Avior pairs AI intelligence with a deterministic execution framework that pursues predefined goals within clear guardrails, approval controls, and auditable workflows. This gives IT teams a more controlled and repeatable path from insight to action, helping them move beyond reactive firefighting. Using Avior today, teams can confidently orchestrate a range of operational outcomes, with more on the way: * Reduce alert noise - correlate related events into a single actionable incident, so teams work the problem instead of the queue. * Reduce compliance violations - continuously audit devices against a policy baseline and surface the gaps, with a record of every change. * Remediate configuration drift - detect out-of-band changes and restore the last-known-good configuration on the devices that matter most. * Ensure configuration backups - snapshot and archive running configurations on a set schedule and flag any device that falls out of coverage. * Manage capacity and cost - track utilization and spend against the headroom the team wants to keep, and flag what needs attention before it becomes an incident or an invoice. * Manage asset lifecycle - retire ghost entities that no longer exist but still clutter dashboards and fire alerts, and track inventory, firmware versions, and end-of-life exposure. "For Indian enterprises, the real test of agentic AI isn't whether it can act, but whether it can be trusted to act in line with business outcomes. Avior changes the conversation from 'how many alerts can we suppress?' to 'which outcomes can we guarantee?', and that shifts budgets, operating models, and even hiring," said Rohit Shukla, APJC Leader, SolarWinds. "Teams will spend less time on manual triage and more on designing guardrails, policies, and goal hierarchies that reflect risk appetite and cost-to-serve. In that sense, Avior doesn't just automate IT work; it makes the operating model itself auditable and aligned to the P&L." "IT operations have long been measured by how quickly teams can respond," said Cullen Childress, Interim CEO and Chief Product Officer at SolarWinds. "But as environments become more complex, distributed, and noisy, reaction time alone is no longer enough. Organizations need to move proactively, reduce operational risk, and build resilience into the way IT work gets done. Avior was designed to meet this moment, helping teams shift from managing alerts to orchestrating outcomes with clear goals, guardrails, and control." Avior is available beginning October 14, 2026, through a guided onboarding program. Frequently Asked Questions: How does Avior help protect enterprise data? Your data stays your data. Only the data relevant to a request is sent, and only data the user is already permitted to see. The data stays encrypted and, for self-hosted environments, it moves securely through the Platform Connect directly to the SolarWinds platform rather than out to a model directly. In addition, Customer data is masked and not used to train underlying models. How was Avior designed with trust in mind? Avior runs on twenty-five years of SolarWinds telemetry, topology, configuration history, and alerting context - across networks, systems, applications and databases and cloud - plus third-party systems through model context protocol (MCP). Avior works in a goal-oriented control loop, is transparent so you can see every step in its thinking, and it is controlled through fine-grained autonomy controls and safe defaults. Additionally, Avior enforces built-in risk controls, and agents are designed to not act past their engineered limits. How is Avior different from the in-product AI assistants Payworld already have? SolarWinds AI assistants are focused on delivering useful assistance within SolarWinds products, bounded by human attention and prompting. Avior is agentic AI designed to work independently within your controls across your digital estate, self-hosted and cloud alike, using combined data from each SolarWinds or third-party product integration you have turned on. Every action is risk-gated, inherits the initiating user's permissions, and is recorded. Do organizations need to migrate data or systems to use Avior? No, teams do not need to undertake any migration project. Avior works with self-hosted and SaaS environments. This allows agents to seamlessly operate across hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

SolarWinds launches Avior AI agents to automate network operations.

SolarWinds launches Avior AI agents to automate network operations. Oct 14, 2026 4 mins New agentic AI system enables network teams to automate routine tasks, manage configurations, and control how much work agents perform independently. SolarWinds this week introduced Avior, an agentic AI system, to help network teams automate operational tasks, reduce alert noise, and improve infrastructure management while letting administrators maintain control over autonomous actions. Avior builds on the company's existing AI framework by adding goal-oriented agents that can execute tasks, not just provide recommendations. The technology works across SolarWinds' on-premises and SaaS products, using operational data and existing management tools to resolve issues across enterprise environments. "We've been on this AI journey for quite some time over the past four or five years," says Cullen Childress, interim CEO and chief product officer at SolarWinds. He says Avior extends AI capabilities with agents that can execute tasks autonomously to free up network engineers to focus on higher-level work. The first Avior offering is a network engineering agent that can automate alert management, configuration automation, compliance checks, and incident remediation. "We started there because [the network is] kind of our bread and butter," Childress explains. "Many of our customers, a large portion of our customers, are on our network infrastructure systems monitoring side of our portfolio." The network-focused agent can correlate alerts into actionable incidents, identify configuration drift, audit devices against compliance policies, and manage configuration backups, according to SolarWinds. The agent is also able to track capacity, monitor infrastructure utilization, and identify obsolete assets. Childress explains that SolarWinds designed Avior to give network managers flexibility over how much autonomy the agents are allowed to have. For instance, agents identify issues and recommend corrective actions in assistive mode. A human-in-the-loop mode requires an admin to approve actions before the agents can make changes. And a fully autonomous mode lets agents complete tasks independently within customer-defined controls and report the results back to the network admin. "Nobody's going to let these agents just go do stuff unless they feel like they're in control," Childress adds. "Everybody has a different level of conservatism." For instance, network managers might allow agents to automatically address repetitive alerts to reduce the noise but require approval prior to an agent making a network configuration change. Enterprises might also enable autonomous storage optimization in staging environments, while maintaining more control in production environments. SolarWinds also included several safeguards in Avior to give network teams control over autonomous agents: * Risk-based guardrails: Require human approval for potentially dangerous actions. * Audit trails: Track agent activity, decisions, and changes. * Automated rollback: Support reversing changes when necessary. * Data protection: Mask customer data and restrict access based on user permissions. * Least-privilege access: Limit agents to the tools and permissions needed to complete assigned tasks. The Avior agents can also draw on telemetry, topology, configuration, and other operational data available in SolarWinds products. Avior is a separate agentic AI layer that connects with SolarWinds' products, including SolarWinds Observability. Avior taps into their monitoring capabilities, operational data, and knowledge of the environment to inform the AI agents. Administrators manage the agents and their activities through Avior. For instance, an enterprise using SolarWinds Observability can activate Avior's network engineering agent. "The agent uses all of the tooling and the capabilities that are inside of that product, just like the human would," Childress says. Avior also works with third-party systems such as ServiceNow to execute workflows, and Childress says Avior is intended to reduce repetitive tasks and let network engineers concentrate on more strategic initiatives. "Our aim is to take the day-to-day tactical toil... off their plate," Childress says. Rather than replacing IT professionals, SolarWinds envisions the agents extending the capabilities of existing teams. "It's not just about having an assistant or a co-pilot that's giving me advice," Childress says. "This thing can give me advice, but it can also do things on my behalf upon my instruction." Avior's network engineering agent is available now through a guided onboarding program. SolarWinds expects to introduce a database administration agent later in Q4, followed by IT administration, SRE, and security analyst agents across late Q4 and early 2027.
