Thales launches Sentinel Envelope Plus to shield software from AI-assisted reverse engineering

Thales has launched Sentinel Envelope Plus, a software protection solution designed to defend compiled applications against AI-assisted reverse engineering and automated vulnerability discovery. The new product adds multiple layers of protection to software without requiring source code changes. In controlled testing, an AI agent identified eight of 10 vulnerabilities in an unprotected application but found none in the same application protected with Sentinel Envelope Plus, despite using 970 times more processing power. The agent eventually recommended discontinuing analysis. The solution extends Thales' existing Sentinel Envelope capabilities, allowing developers to apply advanced protection to security-sensitive application components. It transforms and recompiles selected parts whilst balancing security with performance. Sentinel Envelope Plus is available now as a paid add-on to the Sentinel platform.

Thales launches DSPM platform with native encryption to protect sensitive data from AI risks

Thales has launched CipherTrust Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), a platform designed to help organisations identify and protect sensitive data across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Unlike traditional DSPM tools that focus on access controls, CipherTrust DSPM enables direct data protection through encryption, masking, or tokenisation within the platform itself. The solution addresses growing challenges posed by AI, as copilots and applications access enterprise data faster than traditional governance can manage. It combines data discovery and classification with access and behavioural analytics to prioritise material risks. AI-driven features detect unusual activity and help security teams respond to threats such as insider risk. The platform builds on Thales' 30 years of expertise in data protection and key management, offering unified visibility and remediation capabilities.

Thales and Landis+Gyr partner on eSIM tech for remote smart meter connectivity in North America

Thales and Landis+Gyr have announced a strategic collaboration to provide secure cellular connectivity for smart meter deployments across North America. Thales will supply eSIM technology and IoT connectivity management to support digital transformation of utilities. The solution, combined with Simetric's platform, gives utilities a unified view of connectivity operations across their devices, enabling centralised monitoring and control of large-scale deployments. This reduces field interventions and improves operational efficiency. The installed base of smart electricity meters in North America is expected to grow from 152.4 million in 2024 to 180.9 million by 2030, according to Berg Insight. Landis+Gyr currently serves more than 2,000 utilities worldwide and has over 180 million connected intelligent devices in the field. The technology allows connectivity to be managed remotely, helping utilities adapt to changing network conditions whilst maintaining service continuity.

Thales provides more details about 'DeepFinder Tactical' radar.

Thales provides more details about 'DeepFinder Tactical' radar. 2 minutes read By Andrew White Thales has disclosed more details about the third and latest variant in its family of UHF radars at the inaugural Thales UK Technology Summit in London on September 14. Designed to support integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) capabilities, "DeepFinder Tactical" comprises an early warning radar, capable of detecting threats at "very long range and across a very wide angular sector," Peter Terpstra, Surface Radars Global Policy Director at Thales confirmed at the event. Referring to the "current operational context which is imposing new radar requirements" across the IAMD market, Terpstra explained how the "highly mobile solution" could also ensure increased levels in survivability across the contemporary operating environment. "High power transmitters offer high-quality cueing to a fire control radar system and resilience to jamming," he added, promoting the use of UHF radars for early warning. According to Terpstra, the most important upgrade in UHF radar technology has been the reduction in form factor. Confirming the presence of UHF radars of the past, he warned they had historically been "very big," warning: "They are buildings, and the problem with the building is it's not mobile. So, the DeepFinder Tactical is now the first radar which gives all these advantages with very high mobility. We have in the past decade developed a technology and algorithms to make multiple antennas work as one. It was very difficult, but we managed," he said. Thales presented several concepts of employment at the Tech Summit, describing how the radar could be air-transportable by 20ft shipping container and operable with rotating or starting antenna. The radar can be up and running within 30 minutes, Terpstra said, before confirming DeepFinder Tactical's AESA antenna includes a fully digital multi-beam. Terpstra added the radar features the capability to "aggregate multiple modules to increase overall performance." "Each mission is accomplished by deploying one or more radar modules with a software application dedicated to each mission," he explained. "DeepFinder Tactical is a disruptive solution to the evolution of threats and an effective force multiplier for several missions." Terpstra said Deepfinder Tactical has a range of a few thousand kilometers, which he said means an air defense system can "launch on remote" before it has a visual on its target. "So, based on [Deepfinder Tactical] data, they can launch the missile. It's already in the air. Then their fire control radar picks up [the target]and does the final guidance. So, the area you protect is much larger, and also the chances of you of hitting it is much larger, and you work much quicker," he continued. To date, Thales has built a "very large [UHF radar] demonstrator" in the south of France, which Terpstra confirmed has been in operation for "quite a few years." He added that the technology readiness level of DeepFinder Tactical is "so high," he expects the first radar to begin testing by the end of the decade. Terpstra would not comment on potential customers.

Thales demonstrates VORTEX drone integration at REPMUS26.

Thales demonstrates VORTEX drone integration at REPMUS26. * 29 September 2026 * Edited By: Haley McQueen At REPMUS26 in Portugal, Thales demonstrated how VORTEX, a compact and modular solution dedicated to tactical intelligence missions, can be integrated onto a drone to bring detection capabilities closer to areas that are difficult to access. (Image credit: Christine Harel) In complex operational environments, having relevant information at the right time is essential to enhance situational awareness and support decision-making. The ability to collect and analyze information as close as possible to the operational environment is particularly important in the maritime domain, where distances, the scale of areas to be monitored, and the exposure of operational teams can all present significant challenges. As part of this year's REPMUS exercise, Thales demonstrated how VORTEX can detect and analyze signals from cellular networks in an operational environment. For the demonstration, VORTEX was integrated onto a Beyond Vision BVQ418 drone, operated by the Portuguese Navy. A solution designed to adapt to mission requirements. One of VORTEX's key features is its modular and platform-agnostic design. The solution can therefore be integrated onto different drones depending on mission requirements. This flexibility opens the way to different operational concepts, combining Thales' tactical intelligence capabilities with the mobility provided by unmanned systems. The demonstration at REPMUS26 provided an opportunity to explore the potential of this combination in a maritime environment and alongside an operational user. Experimenting with users and partners. Beyond the technology demonstration itself, REPMUS26 provided Thales with an opportunity to work alongside the Portuguese Navy and its partner Beyond Vision, and to explore with them new ways of combining unmanned systems with intelligence capabilities. This collaborative approach is fully aligned with the spirit of REPMUS, which brings together armed forces, industry, and the scientific community each year to experiment with new technologies and explore their integration into operational environments. REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems) is an international exercise dedicated to the experimentation and integration of unmanned systems. Held in Portugal from August 31-September 25, 2026, REPMUS26 brought together armed forces, industry, academia, and international organizations to test new capabilities in operational conditions.
